Can we talk bugs?

I have a contract with Terminix for termites and general pests. They are two separate parts.

Termite service is $390 for the year.

Other pests (silverfish, mice, etc.) is $240 a year. We just negotiated this down to a "friends and family rate" because we know someone who works there.

It's over $600 total, which seems like a lot to me for an annual contract. In a previous house I owned with my XH we paid a little more than that for an initial pest removal (I think carpenter ants) but after that we only paid $150-$175 a year.

Does termite service alone usually cost more than the other stuff? This was DH's house before we got married and he said he did have termite problems, so I'm not looking to get rid of it. I just want to see if we're getting ripped off and maybe go with someone else.

Who do you have for your service and do you pay anything close to this?

the $240 for other stuff is not high either but be careful, cause Terminix usually only does quarterly service
not monthly, so she has to ask what they're going to do and how often. as far as the termite contract is
concerned, there is usually a first time set up fee if they are putting in a bait system. how much is that?
or are they just taking over her existing contract from another company. makes a difference.

We have the termites baits around our house and it is almost like 400 per year in monitoring.
