Can we talk about induction becaaaaauuuuuuuse......

I'm getting induced TOMORROW!!!!

I spent the day at work yesterday with what were crazy off the wall "contractions", that were top and bottom of the belly, painful and mild and just plain all over the place.

I finally called the doctor (who was delivering 2 other babies Chat Icon ) and they saw me in the office, at which point most everything had subsided.

He checked me and I was still thick but 1 cm....and he suggested I meet him at the hospital on Saturday at 8AM to be induced. He didn't really say WHY since I'm not due till the 19th, but I guess it was enough for him to realize I was uncomfortable and that this baby is already supposedly 8 pounds, so things could only get more complicated as time goes on.....?????

Either way, I'm happy with it! But I have heard induction can be pretty brutal, so anyone who's got any info, it's much appreciated!

I remember with Chris the contractions were slow and i wasnt progressing so they gave me pitocin

thank god they gave me the epidural first since the contractions came hard and fast after that

with natural birth they are hard but not as fast as with the pitocin IMO

I guess I could say the same happened with Gavin since his heart rate was so erratic. They gave me pitocin because my water broke but I wasn't feeling any contractions. Maybe that's why I went so fast?

Just wondering if I should expect the same, so I guess so!

Yes. I think you should expect to feel the same. If anything a bit more comfy since you went thru it already. The pi makes everything better :)

Re: Can we talk about induction becaaaaauuuuuuuse......

I was induced with my son because of medical reasons. I went into the hospital at 7PM. They did the normal check in procedure, checked vitals etc. About an hour later, they gave me the first round of meds. The contractions started pretty quickly. My water broke at 8AM (I was up all night with the contractions) and my son was born at 6PM. I don't have anything to compare it too, so I can't say if the contractions are better or worse than natural labor. Either way, contractions hurt but it isn't the end of the world. You have already been through one delivery so I think you should be fine! Chat Icon Chat Icon Good luck!

Re: Can we talk about induction becaaaaauuuuuuuse......

I was induced with DD. I had a VERY easy labor and delivery. Pushed for less than an hour. From the time they broke my water and started the pitocin until DD was born was less than 6 hours.

Good luck!!!!!

I was induced at 38 weeks 5 days with # 1 and it didn't work for me. After 21 hours of labor, I was only 3 cm.
I heard it works great if your body is "ready". Best of luck to you!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
