Can someone tell me why...
My neighbor thought it was ok to use a saw outside my window at 12, 12:30, 1, 1:30,2 and the last time I heard it was 2:16.
I had the phone in my hand to call the cops but my husband was like don't call the cops you don't want to start problems

SCARY thing is I got out of bed to make sure It was sheetrock.
They are a young couple and when he first moved in I swear he reminded me of a petifile.

did they have a window break that they had to border up??
But you did say it was sheetrock....you dont use that to board up a window unless thats all he had

Who knows. Funny thing is I can sleep through anything. But my DH wakes up if he hears anything. So he was tossing and turning and that was waking me up.

It was late last night. I just looked and it was durock
Um the last time I heard it it was 2:16.... I was Not happy

In the least, I'd have gone over and asked them to stop. If they didn't stop, I'd DEFINITELY have called the cops. The cops won't tell him who made the complaint, just that one was made. If it happens again, I'd call the cops.
I almost called the cops on my next door neighbors last week. They are generally lovely, but I believe they left their teenagers alone for the night. At midnight they were blaring Free Bird from their living room. (These are attached houses, so the noise was bad) I went over there and knocked on the door, but the kids were too scared to open it... Um, like I didn't hear them rushing to turn off the music and telling the dog to stop barking. I was just going to ask them nicely to keep the music down since we were sleeping. Luckily, they didn't turn the music on again, but had they, I'd have called the cops for sure. Had the noise been someone with a saw or something potentially dangerous, sounds paranoid, but I'd call the cops before going to talk to them myself - IF they were strangers.

I wouldn't call the cops, but would walk over and ask them to stop. If, after you ask, they don't stop? Then I would think about calling the cops.
But basically, I agree with your DH...There's no need to start a big issue over it. I know sometimes when we get on a roll with a project, we lose track of time. Yes, 2 in the morning is excessive but hey, no one's perfect.
Communication makes for good neighbors.

I was home all day yesterday I heard him going at 11 am. But... he has a garage they could have been in. He could have done this inside the house. It's not like the cops would say who called. Or would they

i would have called the cops. i have called the cops several times on my neighbor who runs power tools at obscene hours. no way would i confront someone at 2am. if they're nuts enough to be cutting sheetrock at that hour, they could be drunk or just plain crazy! let the cops handle it.

See..... I guess I am just classy, becuase I would have cracked the window just the tiniest little bit and screamed shut the eff up you azzhole! Then I would have watched DH pick up his pillow and go into the living room.
