You are right. I wouldn't do any necklace but I would do some nice earrings and bracelet.

I think this largely depends on what fabric the dress is made of. If it is cotton, i would say it wouldn't be appropriate for a wedding. If it is something more formal like silk, fine jersey and the likes, than I think it should be fine.
