Can I pick your brains for a second?
If your company has an internal website ("intranet") type thing. . .
What are your favorite places to go? (ie: calendar, cafeteria menu, NY News, Corp. update, Corp discounts. . .)
What do you think is missing that should be added?
Anyone have a personalized welcome page?
**just wanted to add- we have all the important stuff. HR, Benefits, IT. . .

We have a "personal news" section that I enjoy--who just got married, who had a baby/became a grandparent, who just earned their Master's degree, etc.
Job postings--especially good if you have an incentive program for referring new employees.
We also have photo albums from past company events.
ETA--Around the holidays we usually have a "coupon" section and you can submit any emailed coupons that you receive that can be printed and reused by anyone. This is a HUGE hit.

At my last place we had an Intranet. A great section was for common forms - tax forms for new hires, day off requests, etc.
The help desk used it for common problems too. "How do I clear a paper jam?", "My password doesn't work" etc.

I use the phone number lookup on our intranet also. It gives name, department, title and extention. You can search by name or department (very helpful when you know you need to talk to so-&-so in Treasury but can't think of their name!).

I loved the phone lookup on it...I worked at Viacom and theirs had it so you could search by name across the company (First OR last) and then you could also search by extension, so if someone you didnt know was calling you, you could find out who they are
