Can anyone recommend their doctor in Forest Hills, Queens or nearby??

I told by my doctor 6 months ago that I wanted to start ttc by the end of this year and asked her if there was anything I needed to do to prepare (such as changing my diet, exercising, any blood work, etc) and all she said was to go off the pill about 3 months before we wanted to ttc and when I started to bd every other day. I walked out a little annoyed at how little information I was given but brushed it off since we weren't really ttc yet. Now I've been off the pill for 3 months now and I just called to get an appointment with her to see if I needed a physical or bloodwork or any kind of medical advice before trying and I was told the next available appointment is not until March 28th!!!! The only access to advice I've had so far is this board.

I think I need to change doctors. I use to love her but that fact that she kind of blew me off at our last appointment and now I can't get another one until March really pi$$es me off. I feel like I'm out on my own here.

Can anyone recommend their doctor? I don't want to wait to march to start ttc and even if I did, do I really want a doctor who I can't get an appointment with for over 4 months???? This is ridiculous!!

My doctor said the same things to me and DH. He said once i went off the pill to BD every other day and if after 6 months, I am not PG, to come back BUT I am 36. If I were under 35, he would have told me to try for a year. I already have my appointment for 6 months (which is next month). How old are you? If you are older, I would take the March appointment so by that time you'll at least have one and you can be more aggressive in your TTC efforts. If you are younger, I wouldnt worry after 3 months. Some doctors just dont like to get their patients concerned unnecessarily. Others may differ in opinion. Thats just my take.

I am 32 so I'm no spring chicken! But I hear everyone on the boards saying how they went for bloodwork before ttc to make sure they were healthy so I keep wondering if that's normal? Or is it common to just start on your own with no guidance?

I specifically (sp?) asked my doctor to do bloodwork. But initially she just told me to once I am off the pill to BD and call her when I am successful or if I am trying for 1 year and nothing happens.

I think that if you have been going for a while and there is no history to worry about they don't normally do bloodwork before.

I also went to my Primary Care physician for my annual check up.

My Dr. told me the same thing. But I'm not actively TTCing yet (next Fall). I also wanted to add that starting as a "new" patient you may not get as early as you want - but you can sure try.

I really like my Dr. here's her info. There's 3 Drs. there.

Dr. Sturim Sondra
North Village Ob Gyn

We had a TTC appointment but there was no bloodwork required for TTC by my doctor. HOWEVER, waaaay before TTC, I did a full battery of genetic testing before our wedding. This was to rule myself out as a carrier for genetic disorders associated with our Jewish heritage (of which there are quite a few). Had I tested postive for any of them, DH would have been tested. I was fortunate and tested negative for all.
