Camping...
Anyone know of any really nice areas to go camping? I would say no more than three hours away, and on a lake would be a bonus!! We want to do a big family camping trip this year and have no idea where to go.

North South Lake on the Campground. Just north of New Paltz. We go at least twice a year there. Very nice grounds, great trails. Near a lot of places.

We went here a few years in a row......right on a lake, lots of kids activities, the showers were clean! And there is a pool also!

Definitely!! It's a great place and has some really nice hiking trails (some of which are not even that long).
Also, on the island, Wildwood out east is nice--close to the beach. I would avoid Heckscher or Hither Hills though-way too many ticks!!

People have told me Montauk is a great place to camp.
My family goes to Letchworth State Park near Geneseo.
If you go to the NY state web site and look up tourist attractions, it will let you know where all the state parks are that you can camp at and what the facilities hold. I'll see if I can find it.

Totally agree. We camped here last year and are hoping to go back again this summer.

This is the only place I've ever gone camping.
I haven't been there in 10 years or more but from what I remember, the bathrooms were pretty clean, there was a pool, etc. My friend used to DJ there and that of course, added to the atmosphere.

We go to Narrowsburgh (Upstate NY - Delaware Water Gap) every year...the camping grounds are right on the river and you can take canoe trips which are a lot of fun!
