Calling All Timeshare Owners
I am considering buying a timeshare now that it is a buyer's market, but am looking for some help from BTDT owners.
1. Where do you own, and are you happy with it?
2. If you have exchanged it, is it a good-exchanger?
3. Is your TS family friendly with lots of amenities for children?

I own in Orlando through Starwood and I'm very happy with it. We bought in Dec 2005 and have only been to Orlando once.
2. If you have exchanged it, is it a good-exchanger?
It is a very good exchanger. We had the most basic model but, we travelled during off peak times so we've been able to go to Hawaii, Cabo, Aruba and ILs have gone to Puerto Vallarta 2x and Aruba 1x with it.
3. Is your TS family friendly with lots of amenities for children?
Yes - it is very family friendly. There are numerous pools, play areas, etc. It has to be since it's in Orlando.
When we went for our tour - they said the top three most requested areas were Aruba, Hawaii and Orlando (and the order varies based on where you are listening to the presentation). From what we have seen price-wise, you get more bang for your buck in Orlando because there is a huge supply, prices tend to be lower, but there is good trading power.

1) We own at a place called Orange Lake in Orlando. We are VERY happy with it.
2) We used to exchange before we had kids and we do book a lot of "last minute vacations" which are extra weeks, other then the one you won, at really cheap prices. We pay to be part of RCI, an exchange program.
3) Our TS is SUPER family-friendly. There are tons of different pool areas, a couple of restaurants, playgrounds, lazy river, splash grounds, etc...

We own Wyndham Vacation Resorts (formerly Fairfield Resorts). Yes, we do like it.
2. If you have exchanged it, is it a good-exchanger? It's an excellent exchanger. It's a point system, not a week system so we can go any time of the year and go any where. You can also exchange points through RCI.
3. Is your TS family friendly with lots of amenities for children? Depends where you go! Our TS is deeded in Vegas but there are locations all over the world.

Same here. Ours are exchanged through Interval though - we bought resale that's what the prior owner's had.
Ours is deeded to Kingsgate which is in Williamsburg...we haven't actually been to that location yet but we have been all over.

I own a Disney Vacation Club timeshare - we are THRILLED with it.
2. If you have exchanged it, is it a good-exchanger?
We've gotten great exchanges. In addition to being able to stay at any Disney, do the Disney cruise, or Adventures by Disney, they exchange now throuh RCI.
3. Is your TS family friendly with lots of amenities for children?
Our "home" is Disney so it's absolutely family friendly!!!
