Caesar Salad Dressing? (Poll)

Were you aware that there are anchovies in (most) caesar salad dressings?

Just curious- I thought it was common knowledge, but I guess not! I went to lunch with a few co-workers and we all ordered a caesar salad each. While I know there are anchovies in the dressing, this particular salad had no dressing and only anchovies and cheese. It was gross. My co-workers both thought it was tuna. Turns out my mom and DH had no idea they've been eating anchovies all these years. So... did you know? Be honest!

did not know that... its not like i can taste them so it doesnt bother me...

but i would never eat anchovies regular

It's my favorite salad and I order it everytime I go out for dinner. That's if it's on the menu.

Yea, I knew but you can't really taste. I love caesar salad but hate anchovies.

For the people who say you can't taste them... have you ever tried an anchovy separately? You actually can really taste them in the dressing. I was always in your camp- just ignore them and pretend they're not there. But once I had the only cheese and anchovy salad I realized just how much flavor the anchovies actually give. I still didn't like it though.

I don't love anchovies but I always knew they were in some caesar dressing. Some caesar salads have the fish on them.

I like the flavor when incorporated into the dressing or another dish but not too much of a fan eating them as they are whole.

Did you also know that some caesar dressing is make with raw eggs?

Nope Ang, you're not alone! And trust me, I thought these results were going to go the entire opposite way. My friend practically lives on caesar salads and she didn't know either!

I have tried anchovies and interestingly I don't care for them, but in Caesar Salad Dressing it doesn't bother me.

Maybe it's the combination? I don't know.

However, if I'd have gotten an anchovy on my salad I'd have picked that sucker right off!

see I wouldn't be able to eat my salad if I saw a whole anchovy. If I don't see it..I'll eat it.

Yeah, trust me, I only choked down half of it. It was a $25 salad and one of the attorneys at my office was paying for it- he took us all out to lunch as a thank you for our help with something.

ETA: I hid it under some lettuce because it was really bothering me.

I know! The first and probably the last $25 salad I'll ever eat.
