cablevision question
Hi, we just settled into our new home comming from Queens NY, out to Levittown now.
I guess we were spoiled with Time Warner cable.
When selecting a channel or the menu does it normally take 6-8 seconds to load?
The technician told us that is normal and nothing we could do.
Anyone who has or have had Time Warner in NYC knows that menu guide and the channels load in a split second, no waiting or lag time.
I cant belive this is normal, but he said he lives in Queens and knows the difference. He also said its a common complaint about cablevision.
Anyone know is Verizon FIOS like Time Warner, or does that to have a delay or lag time when selecting things.
Channel surfing is a real drag now.

I would ask them to check your signal strength.

The non DVR HD boxes for Cablevision blow. They have horrible lag to them.
Get the DVR box. I never understood why the DVR box moved much quicker than the non DVR box. Doesn't make sense when the DVR is a time shifted device. You would think they would move slower.
But overall Cablevision is much better than Time Warner though. The TW DVR boxes have all kinds of glitches in them. My dad has Time Warner and that's all he complains about.

Re: cablevision question
I have to disagree that time warner is worse then cablevison
when we moved from Long Beach to Queens - we felt like we won the lotto with Time Warner
we love everything about it- for us it was MUCH better then cablevision
I have never had an issue with either DVR box I have- I love TW!

We went from Time Warner on Staten Island to Cablevision on Long Island. I totally agree with Beth!

Re: cablevision question
They did check our signal strength which they said was excellent.
They did this both over the phone and once the technician came to the house.
Before I even showed him anything he said oh thats normal. If you enter the channel it will take 8 seconds and if you enter the channel and press SEL it should take 6.
We turned it on, he tried it and those were pretty much the exact times it took, again he said this was normal for cablevision.

We have the HD boxes, I think 4200. But not the DVR ones since we didn't opt for DVR.
I will call to see if we can switch them even though we don't subscribe to DVR.
Anyone know about FIOS, does it have this lag time or is it comparable to Time Warner in speed.

Re: cablevision question
It always takes forever for the guide to load even with our DVR HD box. It is annoying....
