C section question.....

Due to my body size and baby being in breech, I will have to get one. Is it scary to get one? Just thinking about it makes me nervous.

TIA

Re: C section question.....

I had 2 of them and had no problems. It is major surgery so you do have to take it easy, and my best advice is to be very diligent with the pain meds. The best part is- you never have to have any labor pains! I loved that I didn't have to worry about contractions, or my water breaking in weird places. Good luck!

Re: C section question.....

The greatest 11 minutes of my life.

It was scheduled...and beautiful.

I was in triage, the nurses were so wonderful. The shave was absolutely nothing. You are asked questions in re: to the spinal.

I was taken into the operating room. DH was brought into another room.

The spinal was a breeze...just relax and take it all in. You will be seeing your baby in a matter of minutes, so don't let anything else enter your head other then the extreme joy and excitment.

I was laid down, sheet up. A nurse was rubbing my temples, another was holding my hand. I had zero feeling of anything. My mother told me the scrubbing was going to hurt, so I was expecting that. I tell you though, I never felt anything...they called in Leo.

I had already been scrubbed and cut at that point and had no idea. Leo held my other hand.

We did not know the sex, but I felt boy from day 1. When the dr announced "Dad stand up," well its like you are at the top of a rollercoaster!

Leo looked at me and said its a boy! At that moment I could not believe he was in the same room as us. The three of us together for the first time.

I was in recovery within 30 minutes holding my baby.

Seriously, I was up and about once I go the okay. I only took IBprofren once because I was nervous that pain would hit...but it never did.

Scar healed fine. I was able to nurse.

I think the idea of having major surgery is more scary than the actual surgery. I had a GREAT experience and I have no regrets...I was up and walking the next day and my recovery was slow but steady...best of luck Chat Icon

Re: C section question.....

Mine was unplanned and an emergency, so I saw it differently. Once I knew I was having one I was kind of calm, we were finally going to meet our baby and find out if it was a boy or a girl.

I had no complications whatsoever. The best part was the dr asking Dad to stand up to see his baby. Well, DH stood up but didn't see anything. Then her little head popped out, along with the rest of her 4 lb., 14 oz body. He wanted to tell me it was a girl, but he was speechless. There is nothing like watching your child being born.

The worst part, for me, was the stupid cuffs on my legs. While in recovery, I slept on and off for about 2 hours, then I finally got to really see my baby girl. She was wisked to the NICU within minutes of being born, so I only got to see her for a miinute.

The whole thing was scary for me, because I woke up bleeding, but the csection itself was fine.

ITA. Even though mine was planned I went into labour early and was taken by surprise anyway. I panicked for about a second and then got excited that I was going to meet my little nugget. It went quickly and smoothly, and my recovery went pretty well.

Re: C section question.....

I had one because my induction failed and at that point it was a relief. It wasn't bad at all. The recovery was slow because it was major surgery but I am pretty much back to normal after 3 weeks. The worst part for me was the gas pains after. Chat Icon
