Buying a Breast Pump
I have the options between using Byram Healthcare, Edgepark & Genadyne for purchasing my Breast pump. Anyone have any experience with any of these companies?? Any recommendations for a specific pump?

I don't know of those companies, but do you have insurance? I know my insurance, Cigna, covers it. I just need an Rx from my OBGYN.
I have heard good things about the Medela.

Re: Buying a Breast Pump
i didnt use any of those companies, but i will highly recommend a medela pump
i used my pump in style for dd and it still works so will be using it again with this pregnancy my friend gave me her medela freestyle to use when i traveled - it was 5 years old and she used it for 2 kids and it still worked and my other friend gave me her 8 year old medela pump in style to use as a spare (i kept it at work) that she used through 4 kids and it still works
so basically - they work well and last a long time i would see which company offers medela and go with them

Buying a Breast Pump
I have experience with them and they suck. The medela pump I wanted was on back order. I put my order in but united won't let you get the pump until you delivered. So that was when my order was processed, not when they received it. They could have just processed it with my due date (they said that's what they do). When they finally processed it the pump was no on back order again for another 2 months. We ended up having to buy one and then fought them to reimburse us, which they did.
Be careful. Most of these companies end up on back order.

I've heard good things about Edgepark and will be contacting them once I get closer to my DD.

Which company did you use?? I have to go through a company- they said they don't reimburse if I purchase on my own. But my insurance also said that they will let you order and they process it anytime in the 3rd trimester- so if something is on back order that's okay.

Re: Buying a Breast Pump
My sister had UHC and getting a breast pump from them was a PITA!
1. You can not order it until you deliver - SO DUMB. 2. They misfiled her paperwork like 6 times -which meant it took her like 6 weeks to get the pump. In the meantime, she rented one from the hospital and was reimbursed by UHC. 3. The pump she eventually did get is apparently uncomfortable to use. Luckily, she got a used pump (Medela) from her co-worker that she likes.

I honestly don't remember but it was def one of those three. It was on back order for like 2 months, not just a couple of weeks. They said they wouldn't reimburse us either but they finally caved and we got a check back. It was a hot mess tho.

Does she have the government UHC plan?? Bc all my coworkers are telling me they got one a month or 2 before they delivered and that it was easy, but no one remembers what company they used. The Medela one my friend is recommending is 100% covered and available through Byram, but I don't know if they're a reputable company. The other 2 companies don't have the one I want.

She is NOT government. I think there is a LONG waitlist for the medela one so I would verify this before ordering.

Buying a Breast Pump
Thanks everyone!! I'm a government employee so I think our plan is different. I'm going to just go with Edgepark bc they seem to be a reputable company and I just spoke with them.. they were really knowledgeable and helpful with the specifics to my insurance. I'm going to order it in 4 weeks.. that way I still have plenty of time if something is backordered.
