Which breast pump are you buying/registering for?
I'm still debating if I should add this to the registry or buy it ourselves, but can you share which pump you will be getting? I hear Medela is the best but there are all different models and I'm not sure which one?

I registered for the Medela Pump In Style Advanced - had good reviews and since all of them are really scary and intimidating I picked it because of the reviews.

Re: Which breast pump are you buying/registering for?
ameda purely yours (with carrier and chilled bottle bag).... (aka as the lansinoh)
I was surprised to find out that this is the only brand of personal electric pump that is approved by the FDA... apparently, the meleda is difficult to clean properly, and bacteria can easily collect... this is why it did not get FDA approval.
however, both the ameda and meleda are highly rated by moms......

This is the one that Baby Bargains recommends (along with the Medela) though they say the Ameda is more bang for the buck and they liked it better for another reason, I forget what, maybe this (what you said) was it.

Re: Which breast pump are you buying/registering for?
I bought the newest Ameda pump with all the accessories from ebay, brand new, for $95. I totally lucked out!!! I would have bought either one (Ameda or Medela) since they both get rave reviews, the Ameda just happened to be cheaper.

Re: Which breast pump are you buying/registering for?
I think the reason they recommended it was something having to do with an adjustable flow rate or some other feature...
the FDA approval thing I only found out when I was tyring to purchase a pump after my shower (no one would touch that gift with a 10 ft pole )
I was price shopping on website #452 and bumped into that little nugget of info. Lo and behold, it's actually true!
Frankly, I know Scone won't be harmed by a meleda... but the fact that it's so difficult to clean all of the meleda parts is a bit of a turn-off for me... aparently, the purely yours is much easier and has fewer parts to clean...
easy = good for this lazy mom

Re: Which breast pump are you buying/registering for?
oh, FYI..... about registering vs buying yourself
the warranties of pumps usually only run 3 months, and start at the date of purchase... so if you register for one, you cannot use it for at least a couple months after you receive it... so in essence, your warned is trimmed down to only a month
So in the end, we were lucky that we didn't receive the pump as a gift. we ordered it a month prior to my due date, just to make sure it was around if Scone came early...
also, do NOT open your pump box until after your baby is born, becuase once the seal is broken, it is illegal to accept it as a return (due to obvious hygiene reasons)....

I have this pump from my last pregnancy. It is a great pump!!! I EBF for 7 months and then my DD didn't want to BF anymore. I exclusively pumped for the next 4 months. I was pumping 5x a day and this pump kept up with me...no problem.

Re: Which breast pump are you buying/registering for?
I had registered for the medela advanced ( 319.99) and for the warranty as well. and yes someone purchased it! you'd be surprised!
my shower was in october, my baby was born in december, I used it all for 2 months and returned it and got a check in the mail for it! for full purchase price!
so if you register for it, make sure you register for the warranty as well, it is an extra 40 bucks and well worth it- you have 1 year from the purchase date to return it.
this is what I am going to do for this baby now.
I returned it b/c one of the pumps became slow and since I didnt need it anymore I just sent it back and used the money for something else DD needed at the time.
