BTDT- where to put this stuff?

Hey girls!
I finally got the nursery furniture and im trying to put the shower stuff away and i have 2 q's for you BTDT moms...

1- I got a bunch of fleece blankets and receiving blankets. How many of these do you really need? Should I return some?

2- I have a 3 drawer dresser im using as a changing table and then a 6 drawer dresser, so I have plenty of space. What do you think is most important to keep in the changing table drawers?

Any other suggestions on how to organize this stuff? Like what is best to be hung up and what goes in the drawers?

i feel a bit overwhelmed lol Chat Icon

thanks!

I hung up pretty much everything and then once they wore their onesies, I would fold and put those in the drawers.. if you don't have a caddy with the diapers, wipes and ointments, etc. I'd use part or the entire top drawer for that (depending on how big your drawers are).. The shoes were so small that I used a basket for that.. socks and hats can go in another drawer andthen all blankets, unless you can put them in the closet on a shelf..Again, I don't know how big your closet is or what your set up is so it's a little hard for me to decipher what would work

I think you can probably return some blankets-- I got a few in my layette and then people LOVE to buy blankets as gifts. You will get so many, you won't know what to do with them.

THe top drawer of the changing table should have extra supplies-- like diaper cream, purell, cotton balls, q tips-- stuff like that. Put onesies and pjs, etc. in another drawer-- whatever the baby will wear most, so it's easily accessible- especially when they have an accident. Use another drawer for extra diapers and wipes-- basically, whatever you need at your finger tips when you have a baby on the changing table.

I thought I had too many receiving blankets, but so much spit up, formula, etc, etcl gets on them I'm chaning them at least once a day. I have about 8-10 and have to do laundry several times a week.

So I'd say you need a lot of them, depending on how much wash you want to do. The heavier blankets I have several of but don't use as often.

Re: BTDT- where to put this stuff?

I just did the same thing 2 weeks ago.

1 - I got a lot of blankets as well I returned a few but still feel like I have too many, but I figured I can keep some at my mom's house and MIL's house!

2 - In the changing tower I put Onsies and Onsie sets in size order up to 3 months in the top drawer. Socks and PJ's in size order up to 3 months in the middle drawer. Onsies and PJ's size 3+ months in the bottom drawer. And in the tower part I put Diapers, wipes, ointments, etc.

3 - I hung up ALL of her clothes in size order in her closet. I then had lots of room in her other dresser to put anything else....bibs, burping cloths, towels and wash cloths, etc.

Re: BTDT- where to put this stuff?

In my DD's changing table I kept diapers, onsies, PJ's, receiving blankets and burp cloths.
For the fleece blankets, I kept those in a basket in the closet. I hung all dresses and outfits, which was most of her wardrobe. I kept random shirts and pants in another basket in the closet.

This time I am having boys. The only difference I plan on making is keeping their clothes in baskets in the closet. I figure most stuff will not hang unless it is an overall w/ matching shirt or pants and matching shirt type outfit.

I think receiving blankets are a good thing to have plenty of. You go through so many of them in a week as they too become burp cloths and get spit up on and pee'd on. As for Fleece blankets. I would say keep 3-5 at the most. You'll find one or two will be your favorite and then 1 or 2 as backup.

Re: BTDT- where to put this stuff?

You definitely don't need that many blankets and stuff. What you do need are lots of hooded towels and wash cloths (if you don't want to be doing a lot of laundry). The fluffy ones are best.

In the changing dresser I keep DS's socks and hats (when he was a baby),, pajamas and pants are on the bottom drawer. When he was smaller, the sleep and plays were in that bottom drawer.

It sounds like you have the same amount of drawer space that I have, which is good because you can keep all of baby's stuff in baby's room (the towerls and wash cloths and stuff).
