BTDT: When did you work until?

So I am very fortunate to be off all summer. My DD is 10/3 and I plan on going back to work in September @ 36w pregnant.

My plan is to work until I do not feel up to it or until right before we have off for Rosh Hashanah which would be 5 days before my due date. (we have off from the 29 and are to return on the 3rd which is my due date--don't think I will return just start my leave then).

Does this seem feasible/realistic? I guess obviously I will have to play it by ear and let my boss know I am basically working day to day with plans to stay until Sept 28.

What did you do?? When did you stop working?? TY

I worked a week up until my due date. I was sooooooooo uncomfortable I really couldnt make it till my due date even if i tried

I am working up until my DD (9/2).

I had initially planned to work until I went into labor but my DD is on a Friday and the following Monday is Labor Day (how poetic ) so we are off that day. My Dr wont let me go more than a week late so I know if I dont give birth by my DD, it will be that next week anyways.

Im only taking 8 weeks and I want every second of it to be with .

I am not BTDT but have a similar plan. Im a teacher, going back in Sept. at 30 weeks. Hoping to be teaching until the end, unless I really cant take it. We shall see.

i worked until the day i went into the hospital. i was due to go to the hospital and get induced on a thursday but had a bad weekend prior so on monday i went to work but made an appt to get checked out in teh afternoon and the dr ended up sending me to the hospital that day.
my advice is work as long as you can so that way you can use all your maternity days with your baby, you'll want them!

last pregnancy i worked until i started having contractions, which was a few days before i gave birth

I worked until the day I had DD. I was in sales though, so I was working from home and going on appointments when I needed to. Even if I had to go to the office, I would have done the same thing. I didn't want to waste maternity leave on sitting and waiting. That would have driven me nuts. Plus DD was 6 days late, so it would have been a huge waste.

I'm trying to decide on this as well. DS is due on 11/2, I'm thinking I'll work thru 10/25 and then stop. I think I might like a few days for any last minute stuff I need to take care of, and to get some rest. I have this horrible image of my water breaking in the middle of a marketing meeting

Not BTDT, but I'm going back to school at 30 weeks with twins we will see what happens.

My due date was Feb 6th, I worked up until Jan 26th bc i was just to big and that was a friday so i figured i would have a good week at home before baby came...but then that monday my water broke

I worked until the very end - which came about 2 weeks earlier than I thought it would. It was my plan from the get-go; it just just happened sooner than I expected!

I worked right up until I went into labor. I felt really good and I work in a preschool and being with the kids every day kept my energy level up which was important to me. Also, I didn't want to waste any of my maternity leave just sitting around waiting! I wanted to spend all that time with my baby! So I kept going to work until one morning at 40.5 weeks I woke up with contractions. I had my son that night!

With DS#1 I worked and commuted full-time until 39 weeks. I was at a different job for him. As I posted before for this one I'm working from home full-time until I have him but I'm not commuting after today (32 weeks).

I'm due 11/1 and was planning on working until 10/28 but after talking with HR and finding out that I can take up to 26 weeks on disablity at full pay before the baby arrives, I asked my Dr. to sign me out on 10/14. He said I may deliver by then anyway

Worked and went to school fulltime until the day I went into labor..thank god it was the last day of classes!

I worked until my due date. Work needed to hire someone to handle my cases while I was out and I had to give them a date 2 months before so everything would be covered.

DS was 11 days late.

with DS1, my due date was 8/12, but 7/27 was my last day because I spent all of 7/26 in L&D and was told baby would be here within the week. My water broke 7/29, he was born 7/30.

with DS2, my due date was shifted around a bit. I was told 7/30 based on my early sonos, but 7/18 based on the 30wk and 36wk sono. I stopped working on 7/11, mostly because I didn't have anyone to watch DS1 everyday, but I was also having contractions regularly. I went into labor on 7/21, had him 7/22.

I think it's great to have a plan, but you'll likely end up taking it as it comes. You may already have a baby 5 days before your due date, my first was 2 wks early!

A week before with all pregnancies.

I plan on working until the bitter end with this one as well. I'm now commuting from LI to Midtown East (LIRR & 2 subways) so my grand plan may not workout but I'm going to try. My leave begins when I got out and I'd rather have as much time as possible with both my kids!

Wow that is great!! I was told we only get up to 4 weeks before the baby is born but if we take that it will take away from the time I have after the baby is born!! They wont even tell me yet how long or how much I will get paid on disability, they said i have to wait until the beginning of october to find out.

I would check with your benefits people. If your Dr signs you out before that should be considered Disability not maternity leave. If you choose to go out early then it would be maternity.
