BTDT : questions about flying with kids to disney
We are flying southwest...
Does anyoen know if we need to have headphones for the kids if they want to watch a movie on our portable dvd player? Someone told me we would need headphones and we don't have them!
if you had to change DC while on the flight, where did you do it?
TIA! I haven't flown in YEARS and I am stressing about this.

Re: BTDT : questions about flying with kids to disney
we flew jetblue and delta with my kids and didn't have or use earphones..it turned out that the plane while flying is pretty noisy,,,i mean the whooshing of the air. i had forgotten how white-noise filled the plane is. anyway, we kept the DVD pretty low and no one complained around us. most people were actually sleeping. SW might make you use the headphones though so it would be worth it to get them. don't worry too much..i was a wreck but my kids did great. i brough tons of "forbidden" snacks like candy and crap that i usually would not give them at home-totally worth it b.c they loved it. also brought coloring books stickers, small toys too.

We flew Southwest. I doubt they have them as they didnt show a movie. We brought our own. But honestly if you keep it low enough its ok, since the plane is sort of noisy. Didnt have to change DD so cant help you there.

They have changing tables in the bathrooms if you need to change your kids.
I always bring headphones but DS usually wont wear them. like pps said, the plane is so loud you can get away without using them. i got ki ones from amazon.

We have kid headphones from BestBuy...we always use them on the plane and my girls use them with their leap pads and to listen to movies on the iPhone...they fit their heads really well and were cheap and we bought the warranty for almost nothing and have replaced them with it.

Re: BTDT : questions about flying with kids to disney
Just flew southwest this summer with the kids to disney... we had headphones, but didnt use them... not a problem... no one said anything.... I don't think we needed to change DS while on the plane, but if we did I would have just put his blanket down and changed him on the seat...

Re: BTDT : questions about flying with kids to disney
We've flown on SouthWest to FL with our DS several times. One time they had a changing table in the bathroom so we changed him there bc it was a poopie diaper. For pee we changed him on the seat. We purchased a seat for him so we had a whole row. Another time he pooped on the flight and we had no choice but to change him in the seat, the flight attendant told me they had no changing tables on board. It was no biggie, we had our own row again since we always bought him a seat.

I flew American, didnt bother with headsets.. AJ hates them anyway. She had no problem watching her show. Besides, no headsets meant she HAD to be quiet and still to hear it.
I haven't had to change a poopie diaper but I did once have to change her wet diaper. We had a whole row (she was 2) and we were going from LA to Hawaii.. so I changed her in the seat. Put a portable change liner thingie under her, and just did it quickly.
I did change her once in the bathroom in the plan too. It worked out, pretty cramped but it was ok.

Re: BTDT : questions about flying with kids to disney
We just got back from Disney and flew US Airways.
I was pleasantly surprised at how roomy the changing area was. DS had a poopy diaper and there was a drop down that was as large as half the airplane bathroom. It was super easy to change him.
We brought both the noise canceling headphones as well as the small ear plugs. Both our kids did not want to wear them. They watched a movie on the ipad with the volume on and no one seemed to care. We were surrounded by young kids (crying babies, yelling toddlers, etc). No one seemed to notice our ipad. Plus the wind sound was so strong, we could barely hear the volume. I doubt anyone else could either.
