BTDT Moms who stayed Team Green

was it worth it? I want to wait and DH doesn't. We go tomorrow for our 20 week sono. I want to know but I feel like it will be so worth the wait.

Edited for typo

Everyone I know who waited said it was awesome. I'm a first timer but my feeling is that no baby 'needs' specific boy/girl stuff to survive EVER let alone the first few weeks.

You'll get bombarded with boy/girl clothes when the baby gets here.

Also, how many surprises do you have left in life? Specifically -- good ones?

We were and are again and it was so much fun. I said from the get go dd was whirl and everyone kept saying boy and I was right. It was an amazing phone call b/c we Live oot to family and fronds and everyone was so excited to hear and waiting for that call. Dh got to tell me "a girl" which was so amazing also. The nurses were excited b/c it's no common anymore especially where we were living. I say do it. We didn't have a shower and I didn't know. It all came together. We got some gifts and we bought the rest. As soon as she was born within the first few weeks I had enough clothes to last me the yer. Seriously. I bought a few neutral stuff and white onesies etc just to have immediately. It was amazing. I feel like sometimes we know to much info so quickly. This is one thing we were to be truly surprised about. I wouldn't change it

I was Team Chat Icon with my DD and it was sooooooooo worth it. That moment when she was born was incredible......and a total surprise. We could've sworn we were having a boy. It was an amazing moment.

We found out with #2 and I will admit, it wasn't the same finding out from the sono tech. It was uneventful and kind of a letdown. While its nice knowing we are having a DS I would be lying if I said part of me wishes we didn't stay Team Chat Icon again.

If you really don't want to know, hang in there. It's hard but sooooo worth it. Chat Icon

We didn't find out either time and it was totally worth it. I can't imagine doing it any other way. I loved finding out in the delivery room.

We found out with #1 and didn't with #2. It was so much more fun finding out at birth! The anticipation was exciting!

We are green with #3. Of course I had my moments of "I should've found out" around 30 weeks when trying to get some nursery stuff squared away but I got over it and I can't wait for that moment at birth again.

I was in the same position as you, I wanted to wait and DH wanted to find out. He said we can do it my way for #1 and his way for #2. Well, we are team green again for #2. DH loved finding out in the OR and getting the honor of telling our moms in the waiting room what the baby was. It is hard to hold out but it is so so so so worth it. Try your hardest to wait!!

Ohhh I think it's so worth it. It was the most exciting thing ever to find out once I gave birth. I'm actually not finding out again because we loved the surprise so much. Few more weeks to go.

DD was born last week. Finding out in the delivery room was incredible. I am so happy we were team green. Learning that we had a baby girl after wondering what we were having for 9 months was the most amazing moment.

Completely worth it, team Chat Icon for the third time now. I've never heard a mom saying that finding out the sex in the delivery room was a let down.

Crashing - it was worth it.

In the beginning, we were thinking of finding out to plan but, we sat down and thought about what we had to do and decided that we could wait. I had the sono tech write it down and put it in an envelope in case we changed our mind.

I was shocked with number 2 - for number 1, I was pretty certain it was a boy but, everyone told me girl for number 2 and since the pregnancies were different, I swore it was as well.

It was tough, espcially when it came time to register and pick out furniture for the nursery, BUT it was totally worth it!! I will always remember that moment of hearing "It's a girl!!!"
I would definitely stay team green for baby #2.

Re: BTDT Moms who stayed Team Green

Yes it was so amazing and best decision ever! DH was not into it at first but I convinced him and now he is so glad we waited! We really both thought it was a boy and were being shock, surprised, elated to see a little girl come out! DH got to get the first peak and yell it out!

During the pregnancy I was a little curious but the last few weeks is when I really was anxious and wanted to know but we stayed strong!

As far as planning it was pretty easy. So many people told me they could not wait bc they HAD to plan. Well let me tell you that we did plan. We did the nursery a nice yellow and gray color, got a few neutral outfits and everything else neutral which makes sense for us because if we have another we want them to be able to use the same stroller/high chair/etc. After DD came we were bombarded with little girl gifts…clothes, headbands, PJs, everything! So I don't feel like she missed out on anything ;) Also we added some girly stuff to her room and that is it!

TOTALLY DO IT - TEAM GREEN IS AWESOME!

Re: BTDT Moms who stayed Team Green

Crashing... LOVED being team green and will totally do it next time around. It was completely worth it. And I'm one who normally hates surprises, but it was pretty amazing to find out after DD was born that she was a girl. We also didn't tell anyone the names we picked, so it was fun torturing everyone the whole pregnancy. And you will get loads of gender specific gifts after the baby is born, so no worries about that.

Everyone and their mother told me I was having a boy when I was pregnant with DS so when they said "it's a boy!" I felt like it wasn't much of a surprise. However, I will be team green again!! Hopefully I will be really surprised this time! I think knowing at 20 weeks is kind of anti climactic

We're going to stay team green! Unless DH starts to crack when we get to the 20 week sono...but we do really want the surprise in the delivery room!

I will never find out. Amazing experience. Makes he pregnancy more fun and exciting for me, DH, and everybody.

What is there to prepare? You know it's a baby? IMO, everything should be gender neutral in order to use again anyway. You will receive tons of cute gender specific clothes, blankets, and towels after the baby's born.
