BTDT c/s moms- silly question

I'm trying to set up my date, (hoping the little guy gets the memo and stays in there until then) and the date we want, has a 2:00 or 3:00 slot. I was just wondering if I'll be able to send DH home in time for our DS's bedtime that day. How long did the whole thing take? How many hours before you were set up and "relaxing" in your room?
TIA!

Re: BTDT c/s moms- silly question

Of my 3 c-sections, only 1 was scheduled. I was supposed to go in at 9:00am. I sat and sat and sat. There were a few emergencies that had to go ahead of me, and the OR seems to always be running late. By the time I got into the OR, it was 10:30, and DD was born at 11:15am. DH was able to go home by 1:00 to see DS once I was out and in recovery. By the time I got to my room and got settled and actually GOT my baby, it was 5:00pm. I was not allowed to keep her in the recovery room.

The entire C/S (from walking into the OR to being wheeled out) was about an hour. Then I got stuck recovery because they did not have a bed for me. Recovery is usually about 2 hours anyway though.

my c/s was scheduled for 7:30. I was up in recovery by 9 at the latest. I think I got into my own room by 11:00ish? Maybe?

I'm not sure how the scheduled c/s work later on in the day though. I think it's a crapshoot...I was told that I was lucky enough to get an early time. My drs & the nurses told me that if emergencies popped up, my c/s would be bumped until the OR was available. You may run into the same thing- GL Chat Icon

Honestly, I think you'll have to plan for someone else to put DS to bed.
You may be scheduled for a particular time, but that doesn't mean it will happen then. I was scheduled for 2 of 3 (can't remember which) but DC weren't born until almost 6:30. There were 2 emergency sections that went before me, and then my dr. was called to surgery, so we had to wait.
Then I spent another 2 hours or so in recovery before I was "relaxing" in my room. I don't think I actually got to my room until around 9pm.
