BTDT and current potty training mom's
DD is 27 months and is interested in the potty. She has been for a while. She's peed and pooped a few times, but not consistent. Now I'm in no rush to train her but she's interested so I go along with it.
Here's what's making me CRAZY - she constantly says she has to go. She takes her diaper off, throws it away and goes and sits on her potty for like 1 sec. I'm seriously going through too many diapers. How do I stop her from doing this with out discouraging her??
ETA am I the only mom who dreads this milestone? I don't mind the diapers (except for the expense) - I'm not looking forward to accidents and having to stop to pee everywhere...

DD was doing this and it was driving me crazy ......I think until YOU are ready to train her taht you should tell her to keep her diaper on. literally dd threw out like 20 diapers a day and then sat on the potty and didnt even go
when summer starts we will start training and using a potty chart etc this worked great for my older girls

have you tried the pull-ups? so she can pull them down "try" to go and then pull them back up again.

Put her in underwear. I am serious... that way she will not throw it away. She is obviously ready, so I would go with it. DS was completely trained by 27 months, pretty much did it himself. I say go with it!

I agree with the above 2 posters.
You have 2 very good options...
Put her in pull ups so she can pull it down and pick them back up
or
what i am trying...
put her in underwear and use one of those gerber plastic cover diapers over the underwear. I am hoping at least if she pees it wont go all over the place but she will feel the sensation enough to want to use the potty.

I went right to underwear when she was ready and never looked back. Well she did wear pull ups for about 2 days I think when she didn't poop.

That's a great idea, BUT she likes the act of throwing the diaper in the garbage herself. SO the pull-up doesn't get pulled up. She also must strip completely naked. She won't leave her pants at her ankles

We did regular underwear during the day and pull ups at
night. I thought there would be tons of accidents, but after just 2 accidents ds didn't like to be wet and never went in his underwear again!

I would make her wear underwear around the house. She may have some accidents but I think it will help her train faster.

You'd be surprised how quickly most get it once you just put underwear on them. After a few accidents they don't want to pee on themselves again.
Oh and the stripping completely naked is normal. Molly wont leave her pants at her ankles. My son would completly strip, shirt and all when he was training.!
