BTDT - contractions/cramping

I know this has been asked a million times but I'm asking again.

I'm 38w6d and have been having menstrual cramp feeling since late last night. Nothing bad, just a light cramp feeling. The cramp has gotten stronger since this morning and I've had sporadic contractions. I don't think I'm in labor because they've been sporadic but I know several people have said they have had cramps for some time before real labor kicked in. Is this what it felt like? How long was it before your contractions started for real?

Not a BTDT but I am 38+4 today and for the past 2-3 days I've been having LOTS of this... Menstrual type cramping that's going into my back, sporadic contractions but I am not in labor yet... Certainly hoping to be soon though. My OB did tell me that when I get cramping it could be dilation/effacement. It makes sense bc last Thursday I was almost 2 cm dilated. I lost the rest of my plug yesterday so hoping I am even more dilated now. Let's hope labor is around the corner for us!

BTDT - contractions/cramping

Mine was different. The day I went into labor, I had the worst back pain EVER. It was so bad, I took two tylenol (which was unheard of for me). I didn't have any cramping or contractions all day, just the really bad back pain.

At around 6:30 at night, I very suddenly felt like I had to pee so so so so badly. It hit me out of the blue and HURT! I ran to the bathroom to pee and all this nasty mucous stuff came out when I wiped. 10 minutes later, the exact same thing happened! Only this time there wasn't anything to pee, even though it felt like I had to. And again, more goo. 10 minutes later, again. It was after the 3rd or 4th time I realized they were contractions LOL and it was probably the "real thing."

About 2.5 hours after that started (9 pm), I ran to the bathroom during one of the contractions and along with the nasty mucousy goo was a good bit of bloody goo. That was it for me and I went to the hospital. By the time I got there (9:30 pm -- 3 hours after this all started), my contractions were every 5-6 minutes and I was 5 cm and 100%. An hour later, I was 9 cm. An hour later I started pushing.

Yeah, it was fast!

I really think everyone's story is very very different. But I hope this is the start for you and when it gets moving you know!!!

Good luck tomorrow!!! Contractions are great practice for your body -- I like to pretend the more you have towards the end, the fewer you'll have to experience to get the baby out.
