BRU Return Policy Clarification
Hey Girls! I've been seeing a lot of posts on here about registries today and it got me thinking about how many people say that it's a PIA to return to BRU. So I called BRU (the 800 # that's listed at the bottom of their website) and spoke to a customer service rep there. I basically told her that my whole registry was with BRU but now I'm nervous because I'm hearing that returns are a PIA without a receipt. I told her that its inevitable to get duplicates at the shower and I'm concerned with being hassled when I return them to the store without a gift receipt. She told me that, generally, you need a receipt (or gift receipt) for a return....however, if the item you are trying to bring back was on your registry, the registry acts as the receipt and therefore you will get store credit for the item with no questions asked.
I know there have been a lot of posts about people having issues with returns at BRU but hopefully, this will help.

Re: BRU Return Policy Clarification
I just want to say, speaking for experience, this is NOT true. Maybe it depends on the store location, but I haven't had that experience.
I had a big ticket item on my registry there (Britax convertible carseat) and received two at my shower. My registry even indicated that I received two...and since I didn't have a receipt of gift receipt they wouldn't take it back.
Brought the carseat to BBB, told them the truth (that it was from BRU) and they took it back, no questions asked.

I guess it depends on who you deal with. I returned many items without a receipt to bru that were on my registry and had no issues whatsoever.

Me too. Although be very careful if you have to return a lot of stuff. Friends of mine were banned from returning anything to BRU for 6 months.

I returned a couple of things from my registry without a receipt and had no problems.

I was a little nervous at first about what I heard about BRU, but I have never had a problem returning anything at BRU.

Re: BRU Return Policy Clarification
I returned too much apparently b/c I'm still banned from returning from BRU, Toys R Us and Macy's and Bloomingdale's too. I didn't even realize all those stores were associated.
After many calls and arguments I found out it's a $1000 limit to return things with receipts. Once you hit that you are banned from returning for 13 months from the first return. I was told if you write a letter and ask they can lift the ban early, but I have yet to hear back from a letter I mailed about 2 weeks ago.
I was registered at BBB and did most of my returns there (they are awesome) but there were things with BRU tags and things only sold there. Just keep track of what you're doing and you should be ok.

This has been my experience as well. I've done a lot of returns without receipts but as long as it pulled up on my registry there hasn't been any issues.... so far.

Re: BRU Return Policy Clarification
IMO, it is a huge PITA to return to BRU, even w/ items off of your registry. They gave me a hard time every time I tried to return something, so I just moved my registry over to BBB. Returns at BBB are quick and painless....no receipt needed and they give you the full price without question.

Re: BRU Return Policy Clarification
if they do take your item back without receipt--they will give you the lowest selling price of that item!
so if someone purchased a carseat for you at $300 and the lowest price it went to was $250--that's what you'd get- $250! not the $300 that they paid- which sucks! so it might seem good that they are taking it back wo receipt- when in reality you are getting jipped!
I hate BRU return policy and i think a lot of the managers there are terrible! they can never 'do anything for you'!
i was there the other day and a lady was trying to return something from her registry wo receipt- and they were giving her a hard time....she had to give her license and they claimed that she was not allowed to return the item bc she returned too many things...meanwhile she was stating to them that this was her first return w/o receipt, etc....then her mother was going to give her license, etc---they just make your blood boil there!
i also returned a gift with a receipt from my registry and my relative purchased the warranty for the item as well...they wouldn't reimburse me for the warranty!
i could go on and on about BRU return policy --i don't shop there as much as i used to bc i don't like the way they take care of their customers who are spending soo much money there.
BBB is much better!
wanted to add 1 more thing 90 days goes quick from the time you have your shower-(most gift items are purchased weeks before your shower-so that's almost a month right there!!)-then sorting through what you received--to then giving birth and then trying to run to BRu to return something when you have a newborn--is not easy!

Yes - 90 days after your due date or 90 days after the item was purchased (with receipt).

Re: BRU Return Policy Clarification
its def a PITA to return to BRU. i apparently hit my quota w/returns and they won't let me return anything else. I have never heard of such a policy, nor did i see it posted anywhere that you are only allowed to return so much....its ridiculous

Re: BRU Return Policy Clarification
I returned everything to BRU (had my registry there) they took everything back on multiple times. They would just ask for my registry. Even after the baby was born I was still taking things back. As long as they sold the item they took it back. I went to the babies r us in westbury.

Re: BRU Return Policy Clarification
I have my registry at the one in Westbury. Has anyone had experience there with return things? I haven't had my shower yet, but now I am getting nervous I am going to be stuck with stuff if I get duplicates. It took me a long time to finish my registry at BRU and I don't want to have to start all over again at BBB.

If there are items they also sell at BBB you can return them there if BRU won't accept them. They are awesome!
