Brit Breaks Down While Mom Mourns
While her daughter Britney was being released from the hospital, Lynne Spears was 3,000 miles away at a cemetery in Kentwood, La. today, laying flowers at the grave of her sister.
Britney's aunt, Sandra Bridges Covington, died last January of breast cancer. Britney attended the funeral.

i think it's unfair to judge her like this ...obviously she is very distraught if she is going to spend time at her sister's grave, who was very close to both her and britney. maybe she needed to take some time for herself before dealing with the britney thing.
and also, it's upsetting to me that she can't even do THIS without paparazzi following her. 
ETA: i'm not saying she is mom of the year, but i don't think it's right to jump all over her for this at this point in time.

I agree, but if I was in a hospital come h*ll or high water my mom would be there...then again it is mor ethen likely the 1st anniversay of her death too.....It would be a no win situation.

Oh I totally agree with that. There is nothing that would stop my mother from being there for me. And nothing that would stop me from being there from my kids, even if we weren't on the best of terms.

for all we know her mom could have stopped for a quick minute on her way to the airport. maybe she needed to visit her sister to give her the strength to deal with Britney.

They aren't estranged, but I remember a few months ago Britney told her mother she didn't want her around anymore because they had put her in rehab after the head shaving incident.

I agree. That is really going too far. She's obviously is hurting and needed to be close to her sister. Give her a break. I'm sure she went to see Britney anyway, even though Britney doesn't listen to her.

It's a shame she cant visit her sister's grave in peace. If you look at the dates, her sister's birthday is approaching... just speculating but maybe she wanted to stop by her sister's grave before heading out of town, because if she is going to visit Britney who knows how long she'll be away.
ETA: On second glance, I'm not sure if that says Jan or Jun... but whatever, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Why does America care what Britney's mom is doing? And now the mother is going to be judged for her actions? Can't we just leave this family alone? There are US soldiers dying fighting for our freedom and we are consumed with a woman who is obviously mentally disturbed and how her mother is coping with her daughter's breakdown? WHY?
I'm sorry but I am just so tired of this kind of crap filling up the papers. If America spent half the time that they are reading about Britney researching the presidential candidates that are going to be elected this year then maybe we could put an intelligent president in office. But instead we're "too busy" to read about presidential candidates because we're so consumed with this moronic family that needs mental help.
