bringing your child/toddler to an OB visit
do you ever take your toddler to an OB visits? My DD is 4 , I took her with me last time and I think I'll have to take her again next week. But last visit they just did an ultrasound, this time it's a regular OB visit. There is just nobody I can leave her with or to pick her up from school and I feel so bad that she has to go with me, first because it's not an easy trip for me or for DD (I leave in Queens and see the dr at Mt. Sinai in Manhattan) and then to have her in the room while the dr is checking me makes me so uncomfortable, plus she gets so worried , she thinks "they are hurting mommy" . The dr says it's fine to bring her any time I have to and not to worry about it , they are really nice about it , but I still feel not ok with it.

I bring the boys to all appointments. I just bring TONS of snacks and toys to keep them occupied.

The only thing is that last time we went I took lots of toys, snacks, her explorer ... she could care less for toys or snacks, she wanted to see what the dr was doing

I have seen little children being watched by a nurse right outside the door. Perhaps they can do this for you.

I did. Bought some books and a ton of snacks. Sat her on the chair and she was fine.

I agree. Ask the receptionist or nurse if they would mind because at my office, some parents will leave thir DC with them during the invasive part of the exam.

I always take DS he's 14 months. He crys the whole time I'm being examed. I think he thinks they are hurting me. Even with snacks, books and toys he still crys but if I don't take him with me, I will have to be seen late and the wait is killer.

I'm in a similar situation. She got upset the first time but has done pretty good at the others. I just remind her that the dr isn't hurting me just checking up on the baby. I bring some toys and snacks and that does the trick.

I've had to take my ds (2) a lot recently and it's not always easy but I try to bring something to occupy him.

I'm able to go while DD is in school, but I have had to bring both her (almost 4) and DS (1). Just brought lots of snacks. Haven't had to do an internal with them though. I'm kinda dreading it too.

Re: bringing your child/toddler to an OB visit
I brought DS (2) on my last visit. I was 12 weeks so we were done with the internals. He was fine. My office is quick with not much waiting. He was excited to see the baby on the tv screen but as we were walking out, he asked, "mommy, where's the baby"? I think he thought we were taking it home that day!
They are so quick, it would be more of a hassle to drop him off or rely on someone to be on time for less than an hour outing.
