Bringing a car seat on a plane

If you brought your car seat on the plane how did you get it through the airport?

It's not an infant seat so attaching to a stroller is not an option. I will have 2 kids, 18 months and almost 4. We are going to disney and renting a double stroller there so I don't want to bring a bulky one to the airport. I was going to just have dh carry the seat in a backpack we have and put younger ds in an umbrella stroller and have older ds walk. But older ds is a whiner and I'm not sure he'll make it. Any suggestions? I was looking at those car seat carts but they are so expensive!

We use a lightweight car seat for travel so we just carry it. We use the Cosco Scenera which only weighs about 10lbs. We have also have one of those car seat carts. We used it with the car seat when we were going to Disney and renting a stroller. Maybe bring two umbrella strollers?

This strap is amazing!!!!

You strap your car seat onto your roll on luggage and viola - instant stroller.

Put your oldest in the umbrella stroller and the youngest in the car seat attached to the luggage.

You will have to take the seat off when you go to security, but it was easy enough to put back on once through.

Re: Bringing a car seat on a plane

we just traveled with 2 year old twins and i think we've finally got it down pat

we bought heavy duty folding hand trucks ($30 on amazon) and just tied the car seat strap to the back and used that in the airport. it was so easy to fold up and drag down the airplane aisle .

i looked at those car seat carts too and couldnt get over the price. one day i just decided to try it out on the hand truck i had laying about and it worked perfectly. i also bought bungee cords to securte it better but i ended up not even needing them.

We usually check in the car seats.

The last time we brought them, we took boosters on the plane. We hooked them to the luggage.

We have also made our children walk and put the car seats in the stroller until we get to our destination.

We purchased this when traveling with our car seat to Denver.

DH carried it on his back as we walked through the various airports to get to Denver.

The bag was perfect and we could put DDs stuffed animal and blanket in there for safety rather than worrying about her dragging it on the ground or dropping it.

I bought one of these luggage carriers and strapped the carseat to it and then wheeled it through the airport.
