Breastfeeding moms: Signs of first AF (maybe a little tmi)

DD is 15 months and I'm still waiting for AF (would love to ttc again). I've recently noticed a lot of cm which I haven't seen in forever. Is this a sign that AF is returning? If you experienced this, about how long before you actually got it? I recently cut DD down to once a day and would love to take my time cutting out her last session unless I really need to. Give me some hope ladies!

I was down to BF 2x per day when DS was 4 months. When he was about 6m, I noticed cm. At 7m, I got AF. So, to answer your question, it was about a month after I noticed cm and started getting moody. But- I have still been BF 2x per day, even with my second AF coming up! Just trying to keep my supply up by drinking tons of water!

You can ttc if you haven't gotten af yet. You should be ovulating every month. I don't know if its true but I was told breast feeding moms are usually very fertile due to hormones being released.

I've seen cm before a couple of times. But no AF yet and I'm 6 months PP. I'm pretty sure you still ovulate even with no AF. Which is why they say BF is not a form of BC like they used to say.

I would assume I'll ovulate once when my cycle starts up which is obviously before I'll get AF. Never heard of ovulating monthly with no AF, just doesn't make sense to me.

im 5.5 months PP and have had more cm at times...but still no AF

i dont think you can ovulate monthly and not get AF

My understanding is that BF can delay AF. The reason people get pregnant is because you dont always know when AF will come back and you can catch that first egg. If you dont, you get AF and then you will get AF each cycle if you ovulate and dont get pregnant.

So BF isnt 100% birth control because some people start ovulating again a few weeks or months PP while in other cases it can take months or years.

In my case, AF came back 1 year PP and every subsequent cycle. But, I probably ovulated just before 1 year PP and didnt know it until AF came, so I could have potentially gotten pregnant then if I wasnt careful

I did notice return of CM and ovulating like signs the month or two before I got my period. I was EBFing and it returned at 10months and has been relatively consistent since then (28 dys) with one scary month of a 40 day cycle hehe.
