Breast pumps

These are covered by my insurance. Any feedback? I had the medela with dd#1 and it was eh.

there are six breast pumps available to you
Medela Pump in Style has a one touch 2 phase let down feature and is popular because they have been around the longest and their hospital grade pumps can be found in many hospitals.

Ameda Purely Yours is popular with those people looking for some accessories (tote bag, cooler bag and extra bottles) and/or using batteries in a builtin battery compartment.

The Spectra S2 markets themselves as having hospital grade suction in a personal use pump

The Freemie Freedom is a hands free breast pump

The Hygeia Q is designed for mothers with long-term and frequent pumping needs and Hygeia is the only breast pump company endorsed by La Leche League International

Lansinoh Signature Pro is the only pump that offers independent control of 3 different pumping styles and eight levels of suction

Re: Breast pumps

I have the spectra and my only complaint is that there's no car adapter or battery.

I've heard great things about the spectra but insurance wouldn't cover that brand so I went with the Medals pump in style. I had no complaints

I have spectra, but it's annoying that parts aren't easily available as they are with the medela

Re: Breast pumps

I got a Hygeia from a friend who never used it and used it for my 2 boys. I had no issues with it.

Re: Breast pumps

I used the medela freestyle and liked it a lot, but I heard the pump in style is very similar.

I used the Medela for 14 months with no issues. I will say I didn't respond well to the pump so if I did have another, I'd probably try to the spectra next time.

Re: Breast pumps

Another Spectra s2 user. I also have the 9 which is smaller and holds a charge. Loved them both! It is a little annoying that you can't pop over to the store to buy parts, unless of course you order adapters. I believe Amazon sells adapters for Medela parts. Otherwise, I just kept an extra set of parts that I ordered from Amazon on hand.

ETA: I've heard good things about Hygeia, too, but I wasn't covered for it. Also, I liked Spectra as it is a closed system so milk can't get into the tubing/pump.

With my first I had the medela, which I thought was fine, but when I went back to work my friend loaned me her hygeia pump and that was so much better than the medela. Plus, it's a closed system and I was able to use all of my medela parts. I'm hoping my insurance covers it this time around as that is the pump I will be getting.

Re: Breast pumps

I'm using the Spectra right now. It'a a little on the large side but I like it better than the Ameda that I used with my first.
