they are just SO DARN EXPENSIVE!!!

I know! I want to pump for my ds bc I will have 2 under 2 and I can't imagine having the time to bf on demand! I am trying to figure it all out and I think I am causing my stress!

From experience, I love my Medela Pump in Style. DS had latching issues and I cant imagine what I would have done those first few weeks without it. I got it on sale at Burlington Coat Factory / Baby Depot for $219.

Right now I think Im going to go with a manual... simply bc I wont be working so the demand for pumping wont be high... I just want to do it so DH can feed too and I guess for when we'll be out.... If I go this route, I'll go with the medela harmony

The advice I got from other BTDT moms was to wait until after you give birth to buy the pump. Take the time now to research which one you want but don't buy it until the baby is here. That way you'll know how BF-ing is going and whether it's something you'll really use, since it's so $$. I believe you can rent them from the hospital too so that can buy you some time to decide what you want to do.

I used the Ameda Purely Yours... LOVED it! It was quiet and very sufficient. It expressed milk better than my son ever did (but then again he was a SUPER lazy eater).
Unfortunately we cannot find it since the move... I just bought a Medela Pump in Style Advanced. I've heard great things about that too.

i just called my hospital (St. Catherine's in Smithtown) and asked about pumping options, renting, etc, in the hospital...
the lady in maternity told me they have pumps in the hospital for me to use while I'm there if needed... and that although they don't rent them out straight from there, they have a Lactation Consultant who will talk to me if I want to rent as opposed to buy and set me up w/renting one through whoever they rent through...
so I'm happy this is a decision that does NOT have to be made yet, because the purchase of a pump doesn't have to be made til after LO arrives! I can send mom to BRU or something once I know what I'm doing...
One less stress to check off the list!!

This was exactly what I did when I had my DD. She came earlier than expected so I was not prepared at all. I used the pump at the hospital while I was there and then the LC gave me the names & numbers of nearby pharmacies/medical supply stores that rent pumps and once I was discharged I just rented one from them.
