Breast pump through insurance
Where did everyone order their pump from? Edgepark isn't taking new orders right now, and that was where I ordered from with my first pregnancy. My insurance will cover one with each pregnancy, so was planning on ordering a second one. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Breast pump through insurance
if you go on edgeparks website they are allowing you to sign up for their wait list. i am due in February and they anticipate being able to get me one around the time the baby is due. most insurances wont cover it until 30 days prior to your due date (or even when the baby is actually born) so get on the wait list now
i am currently calling other companies though to find out if anyone else them...will update if I find one

It depends on your insurance company. As of a few days ago, Genadyne was still taking orders, but they keep changing which pumps are covered.

Also, I wanted to state that none of the mail order companies are answering their phones. Apparently with Obamacare, the medical supply companies became overwhelmed at the new year when everyone started ordering. I heard that the earliest Medela breast pumps will ship via insurance is April. Something tells me I'll be buying my own breast pump considering I will be delivering in less than 3 weeks!

I'm sorry! It is so annoying that something that is supposed to get women access to pumps is taking it away! My insurance has always covered it and I had no problem getting one when I had DD. Maybe you can rent a pump initially - will your insurance cover that? Good luck to you!

Breast pump through insurance
I've been coming up against the same issues. Someone bought the Medela pump off of my registry for my shower and I was going to return it and go through insurance but I am hesitant now not knowing if they will get it to me in time.
I am just thinking it would have been so much easier if they would let you buy your own and then reimburse whatever amount they were negotiating with places like Edgepark and Genadyne. I would rather that than nothing!

For sure! Plus if you buy it on your own it is around $300, and Egdepark charges like $500, so it would be a win-win.

They should make an exception for those of us delivering now who can't get breast pumps and just let us get reimbursed. It's ridiculous! I'd keep the one you got off your registry and see how things are going in a few weeks with Edgepark. I just don't have confidence.
Also, Edgepark has a waitlist, depending on when you sign up - NOT on your EDD which makes completley no sense. Women delivering months after me can be ahead of me on the list?

Well what edgepark told me (after bring on hold for almost 45 minutes) is that you sign up for the waitlist, and then when they contact you that they are available you either have to already have had the baby or be due in 30 days or less...and if not then you get waitlisted again and they work their way down the list.
