Boy name dilema! Opinions needed:)
So hubby and I really love the name Colton for a boy.. call him Cole, Colt, etc.. Well I am really set on CJ - (Colton James).. DH was really into it until all of a sudden he wants his first name to be the middle name so now it would be Colton Michael.. I really loove the name Colton James and how it sounds better and the fact I can call him CJ but how do I tell DH no you can't have your name as a middle name which I feel awful about :( what would you do? Does Colton Michael sound ok?

How do you feel about a double middle name? Colton James Michael (CJ Michael)? Colton John Michael is also a good name.

I LOVE Colton James. I would tell him that he wins on not finding out the sex (that was you, right?) and you win on the name.

I would probably let it go - it's a middle name. And I love Colton!

I am stuck with a middle name I don't like....How do you tell DH he can't use his name as the middle???? So instead of Nicholas Vincent, which I love, we are set on Nicholas Peter, which I'm eh about! But I get my first name so I can't complain!!! (My maiden name is Nicholas)
ETA: I love the name and I love the nickname Colt!!!

i like CJ too...in fact i wanted to use a middle name with a J for us if we have a boy so we can call him TJ...but dh wanted to use another name and so i gave in. pick your battles...if you really dislike michael then try to compromise...maybe another name you can both agree on. but if you are torn, maybe just give in since it has meaning to him

I'd either let your DH have the middle name or do 2 middle names, as a PP suggested.
I have good friends who named their child with a specific nickname in mind. But once the baby was born, they decided the nickname didn't fit her and don't use it anyway. So I wouldn't use the CJ nickname as your deciding factor.

That's a toughie. I actually like Colton James better, I think it has much better flow than Colton Michael. I guess you have to gauge how strongly your DH feels about it. If it isn't super critical he use his own name I would go with Colton James.

I agree... i conceded the name with Shaun because i basically had my say in everything else... i think you should get the final say on this one.

I'd give in. If it means that much to him it's worth it. As the only member in my family who is not named for anyone, I would have loved to have a meaningful part of my name. It will be cute when he can say his middle name is after his dad!

I'd give DH this one. Colton Michael sounds nice too and I think having a meaningful middle name trumps having the option to call him "CJ."

Re: Boy name dilema! Opinions needed:)
... honestly, you can just call him CJ anyway?
a nickname is a nickname.
Had a teacher in high school whose real name was Lloyd but he was all but legally 'Buzz'
My grandpa John is 'Jack'.
If you wanna call him CJ -- you can call him that despite what his legal middle name is.

I agree. You might not even like the nickname for your baby when he comes.
