Boston during Christmas time

Planning a trip to Boston during Christmas for about 3 days.
Any suggestions on what to do? See? Where to eat and stay?

Thanks!

We are going with friends and kid's ages are 7 year olds, a5 yr old and 4 yr old. The adults like nice restaurants (good drink menu a plus). They also love museums and lots of stuff to do and see.

Re: Boston during Christmas time

My favorite restaurant in Boston in Stephanie's on Newbury. Chat Icon I haven't been in a few years now, hope it's still the same but I love that place. Long Wharf Marriott is nice b/c you are near Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market, as well as the Aquarium. Joe's American bar and grill is also there, great place to eat. Also really like Copley Place Marriott. Not looking to be a downer but FYI, check your rooms for bedbugs as Boston hotels have a lot of reports of them. I always check my room and have always been fine.

I live in Boston. For hotels - if I were staying here and didn't want to totally break the bank - I'd probably choose the Intercontinental, Langham, Lenox, or Liberty Hotel which is cool bc it's an old jail. I've never once heard the bed bug thing so hopefully that's not an issue!

Restautants/drinks - Bricco, Sonsie, Lucca Back Bay, Lolita Cocina and Tequila Bar (not too kid friendly but great), Bostonia Public House. You could stop by Cheers if you want to be a real tourist. The Fours is a great kid-friendly sports bar/restaurant - good casual food and drinks near TD Garden. The North End is filled with great Italian restaurants- I don't think you can go wrong in that area, as long as you like Italian.

I don't have kids but people seem to love the New England aquarium, the children's museum and the museum of science (on opposite sides of the city). Unfortunately the duck boat tours don't run in the winter bc that's very kid friendly and fun. If you're baseball fans, check out Fenway.

I'm sure I could think of a hundred more places/things to add but my brain is a bit fried at the moment. Let me know if you have any questions! Hope the weather is good for you. I woke up to a light coating of snow today...... Chat Icon

We went just after New Years last year and had a great time. DH was at a conference so he was occupied most of the time but we did all go to the Museum of Fine Arts. DD was 7 at the time and there was enough there to engage her. Then she and I went to the Science Museum which had a lot of hands-on things, and the aquarium which she especially loved.

The science museum had a Magic Tree House planetarium show which was perfect for younger kids.

I bought the City Pass which included the above, along with the Old State House which was a shorter visit, maybe an hour. It also included a museum at Harvard which I would have done if we had more time.

We stated at the Marriott Long Wharf which was great- but it's normally pricey. DH got us the conference rate so we lucked out there.

Have not been during Christmas...
But love the tea party museum, aquarium, we went recently to the art museum. Always wanted to go to children's museum, but we run out of time.
Row 34 is an excellent seafood restaurant (we try to go twice each trip). No kids menu... but awesome preparation of seafood and amazing drinks.
We had a great time eating hot pots in china town last time. Very non Asian friendly.

Our kids absolutely love the science museum in Cambridge. Aquarium is also great.

I'm going the same week and debating between Long Wharf and Fairmont in Back Bay. Which would you go with? It's just adults.

I would go with Back Bay. I find more of the bars and restaurants I enjoyed when child free are in that area vs the Long Wharf area.
