Born Free nipple issue......

so DD is between level 1 and level 2. The level 1 is now too slow that it collapse, and the level 2 is too quick, more milk gets on her face than in her tummy, and she cries when I use the level 2 Chat Icon
We have to get ready for daycare, should I buy another brand of bottles? Anybody use Born Free and another type of bottle that can compare the nipple speed?

We do also use the drop-ins, which the slow nipple is perfect for her at the moment, but the bottles doesn't heat well, and they will have to warm up her bottle at daycare.

Re: Born Free nipple issue......

We started out with the Born Free and switched to the drop ins, but my DS would drink bottles cold. Maybe ask them how they heat the bottles at daycare? I know in the infant room at our daycare, they kept a small crockpot on all day with warm water in it, and that was how they warmed the bottles. That might be fine for the drop ins if they don't leave them in for too long.

I know Born free has a variable flow rate nipple, but we were still using the slow nipples when I switched. Maybe you could try a package of those and see how they work.

we have a bottle warmer at home and it melted the bottom of the drop-in bottles, had to toss them.

I bought the variety flow nipples, didn't work for DD.

When I was on the stage 1 nipples, I just made them bigger w/ a toothpick.

Have you tried that? So they aren't as big as the Stage 2.

Re: Born Free nipple issue......

DS had trouble with the level 2 for a few days because he had to get used to it. once he realized how it worked, feeding times went MUCH better and didn't take an hour.

give your baby a little time to adjust--that's probably all that's needed.

I thought about doing this, but didn't want to mess with the nipples.. I think I will try it, what do I have to lose at this point? thanks Chat Icon

Re: Born Free nipple issue......

Our dds are about same age, we had the same issue with born free. Then I went to Dr. Browns (wide neck) and had same issue.. both caused alot of gas with my dd. Now were using Drop Ins and using medium flow nipples and ALOT better.. Im soo happy to have my baby back to being happy.. still spitting up tho.
