Boating with little ones
Hi ladies!
My husband and I enjoy taking our very active 2 year old twin boys on our boat. It can be difficult for the four of us to go out without the help of other family members. My husband is nervous for when he is driving it might be difficult for me to keep the boys seated. I know it will get easier as they get older but I'm just curious what others with children two and under do. Are they still very young?

It's hard. My daughter is almost 2, and she hates the life jackets. I have bought almost every type, and still can't get a good fit for her. I spend most of my time in the cabin with her when she comes on. I do want to say it got easier once my older dd was over 3, now at 5 she is great on the boat.

I don't have twins, but when my kids were that age (and even now) they and I wore life jackets. I can swim, but I still wanted to make sure that in an emergency we would be safer. I also made sure that there were at least three adults present on the boat. One for driving and one to attend each child.

Thank you both for your responses. I'm glad you both feel the same way about having an adult tend to each child. They wear their life jackets all the time. :)

This definitely stresses me out. When I take DD out on my parents' boat I like them both there so there are two sets of eyes on the water and Dh with me so we can both keep tabs on DD. All this just for the 10 minute ride across the bay! If I take her on the ferry by myself I always end up on the same boat as the lifegaurds and sit myself right near them just in case.
