bloodwork from dr. office got sent to wrong lab
My dad got very sick last month and had blood drawn right in the dr offices but they always ask if the insurance changed & his did but did NOT ask him anything nor did they ask for his new card. They had my parents new ins info anyway bc my mother had visited the office since. Well they ALWAYS confirm the lab you use but this time did not probably bc my father was very sick that day. The bill isn't that bad, but still.
What could happen in this case? How can you fight a lab bill when the office used the wrong info?

Happened to DH. Call lab and give them his updated insurance. His insurance should take care of the bill, even though it was out of network.

even though Quest doesn't take his insurance they would still cover it because it was an office error?

Yeah. For us it was bio reference. GHI sent us a check and we mailed it to them. They accepted that as payment.

It depends if you have out of network coverage or not, but sometimes dr. offices/labs will work with you if you explain..

It would be billed as out of network If his insurance does not accept that lab. If he has no out of network he would have to talk to the office and see if they will do anything. If he has OON he can submit it to his insurance.

Turns out that they DID have the new ins info. The thing here is that the office didn't pay attention to his change of insurance when they had the info & sent it to the lab from his old insurance.

Yes, this is true. I had the same exact thing happen once and the office told me to disregard the bill from the lab.
