Re: blood test
call the doctor about whether or not you can eat before.
IF you can - i'd suggest a nice sized meal before and have a granola bar or two with you WHILE they are doing it...so as not to get light headed.
i had 7 vials taken on my first OB visit - and i started feeling pretty lousy in the car on the way home - but a granola bar helped a lot.

Re: blood test
When I was PG with DS I had to get blood work and I believe they took 15, but it didn't bother me. I give blood all the time and it doesn't phase me.
Good Luck!

Re: blood test
oh i dont do well when i have to have blood taken (and i've had it done a MILLION times) so what i like to do is tell them that I need to lay down! laying down really helps me and then i lay there for a few mins after its over. Try not to look at them while they are doing it. talk about non-medical things and you should be ok. Bring a little snack to eat afterwards if they tell you not to eat before hand

Re: blood test
I had it done a few years ago. It wasn't that bad. The vials are different sizes so it isn't that much blood. It is less then if you donate. But do brin a granola bar for after. You should get your results in about 2 weeks. Good luck

Re: blood test
When they take your blood ask them to lay you flat on a bed, not in a sitting position. This will make you feel better. I ask for the laying position everytime ;)

Re: blood test
Definitely do it laying down.
I had to do all of this bloodwork.. they took 13 or so vials and the only reason I didn't pass out was because I was laying down the whole time.
If you don't have to fast... then make sure you stay hydrated!
