Blonde sues over brown dye; judge brushes off suit

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - A judge has brushed off a Connecticut woman's claim that L'Oreal Inc. ruined her social life when she accidentally dyed her hair brunette with one of its products.

Charlotte Feeney of Stratford said she can never return to her natural blonde hue, a shock that left her so traumatized she needed anti-depressants.

She says she suffered headaches and anxiety, missed the attention that blondes receive and had to stay home and wear hats most of the time.

A Superior Court judge dismissed Feeney's 2005 lawsuit Monday, saying she never proved her allegation that L'Oreal put brown hair dye in a box labeled as blonde. The company also had disputed the claim.

Feeney's attorney, David Laudano, declined to comment and she could not be reached after the judge's decision.

If blonde was her natural color, why was she dying her hair blonde?

People will sue over anything, its ridiculous

exactly why can't she ever go back to her natural hair color, obviously she didn't like it all that much if she was looking to dye it

This is the type of case where this woman should pay for the defense counsel - so frivolous!

It's a very frivolous case. People will use this as an example of how litigious the US has become, but the important part is that the case got her nowhere. Anyone can go into court. Not everyone can prove their case, though. If this is really all there is to the case, then I agree that she and her attorneys should be sanctioned.

ok so yes, this is ridiculous, but let me just tell you my old roommate bought a box of Feria in like 2005 to highlight her hair, and it was supposed to be blond and was actually like the BRIGHT RED color.....she didn't realize b/c apparently sometimes blonde dye is orangey....it was HORRIBLE! She had to go through 8 hours of corrective color to fix it!

I say in her defense maybe she was a light Blonde who wanted to make her hair a darker blonde or vice versa, But to sue them because it didn't come out the way she wanted is ridiculous... My hair is Brown and i make my hair a dark chocolate brown when i dye it and it comes out nice.. People sue of the most littlest things that it's getting out of control.Chat Icon

is she that vain and self-absorbed to not realize that people have REAL problems in this country? this is ridiculous.

I've gone in to a salon for color & it came out completely off. I was furious because I'm paying a salon for their color expertise. My friend went in to one last week & her hair wound up tri-colored. It sucks, sucks, sucks - even with all of the problems everyone has, it still sucks.

I read a survey ages ago that said something like over 89% of women said a bad hair day affects their mood.

You can fix color. You can't fix personality. Maybe her social life is suffering because she's an idiot?

If hair color sent her into a state of needing anti depressants, I cannot imagine what would REALLY send her over the edge.

People continue to amaze and disgust me.
