blinds or shades?
I need to get something to put on DS window for the summers. In the winter I have sheers along with heavy curtains but for the summer I only have sheer ballon shades.
I am not sure if I should go with blinds or shades. I saw these "room darkening" ones in Target today for $6 which are paper but would only be temporary. Does anyone have these?

Re: blinds or shades?
I have paper ones from BB&B. They were also about $5 and have been up for nearly 3 months now - it'll be a while till we can afford the "good stuff" for our new home! They look fine for the time being and it took about 2 minutes to cut them and put them up. They're white and keep out about as much light as inexpensive white venetians would. Try them - if you don't like them, you've only wasted $6 and a trip to Target.

Thank you! I am going to get them this weekend & see how they work!

Re: blinds or shades?
I would just spend a little more money and go to JCPenny's and buy faux wood blinds. They have white or wood looking colored ones. Check out JCP online and see if they have a sale going on right now. Then you can just have the valance on top and just pull the blinds down when you need them. GL!
ETA: Actually you might want to buy cordless cellular blinds from JCP since it's a childs room. When on sale they are good prices at JCP. Or you can get them from BBB with 20% coupon.

Re: blinds or shades?
I just ordered a top up/ bottom down cordless blind at Lowes. You may want to take a look at that style as well.
The cordless are $90 more than with cords. Shipping to our apt. was free.
Right now Bali is 20% off...I can't say that I priced it out b/c after 2 yrs. I could not look at a paper shade anymore.
We also have fabric curtains on a rod over window with tie backs.
In our old apt. we have the wooden blinds and boy were they easy to clean!
