Big friends trip
DH and a bunch of his friends are all turning 40 next year. We've all decided that it would be awesome to take a big group trip next summer. We figure that all-inclusive is the way to go- that way we're not splitting checks, worrying about who's picking up a round of drinks, etc... Any suggestions for a great resort for a bunch of adult friends- possibly/preferably even an adults only resort since we will all be leaving our kids home. Definitely somewhere that has good food, a nice beach, some element of nightlife, and a casino would be a bonus. We're open to pretty much anywhere- though I am not really a fan of Jamaica.

Dominican Republic? Punta Cana? I know these places all have all inclusive for adults.

I priced out Punta Cana, Aruba, and Mexico just for comparison. Aruba would be most expensive, then Mexico (though the resorts look more luxurious), and then Punta Cana. So, I think most of our friends will lean towards DR. Any specific resorts I should look into?

Big friends trip
Excellence is my favorite resort in punta cana but its definitely geared towards couples, not really groups but I would recommend Breathless. More of a party atmosphere and built on the same premise as Excellence, meaning that there are no reservations at any of the restaurants, no towel cards, no up charge of anything. Check it out - the foam party is meant to be seen at least once:)

Breathless looks like it might be a good fit for us. It will be nice to have a party atmosphere, but is it over the top? We'll still want to relax and have some nicer, more romantic dinners too.

We stayed at the sonesta maho beach on st Maarten last year with a group of friends. It was great. The casino is right there. The food and drinks were good. You also have use of their sister resort in philipsburg.

No, its not over the top at all. You can have the best of both worlds. Party when you want and relax when you want.

We stayed at the Paradisus in Punta Cana and it wasn't bad.
