Big day...
Today we ordered Ed-lie's baby furniture. She is very lucky that grandma was so generous:
Also, today my IL's ordered her travel system:
Ed-lie's great grandma, also bought her high chair:
But DH is especially excited, because someone got her the Safety Bath Ducky:
It seems like things are happening really fast now!

Great stuff!!!!!!!!!!
Are they keeping things at their house or can you schedule delivery in August? I'm an idiot when it comes to this, but can you even put furniture in the baby's room or paint it til she comes? Are you following the 'rules'?

Ah yes Kelly. We are being very good Jews. The shipping address we registered with is my mothers so should anyone buy things for the baby and have things shipped, they will go to her house.
As for the furniture, it will be in early and stored in the store's warehouse. They deliver within 2-4 days depending on when in the week I deilver as THEY dont make furniture deliveries on Sundays and Mondays. The day I go in to the hospital to deliver, we will call the store to arrange for a delivery date. It may be there before I get home, I may not. I particularly do not care. Ed-lie will not know the difference. She will be sleeping most of the day anyway.
The room will be empty until she comes home. We are not sure if the walls will need to be painted. That is TBD and we have time. All that we will NEED to have for her upon her coming home will have been purchased. I live 5 minutes from Mom and my sisters. When I deliver, I call Denny's and one of them will pick up they layette, wash it and it will be put away before I bring her in the house. We will obviously need to have the car seat set up. That will have been installed.
Most people in my circle of friends and family know our traditions and know that I will not bring anything into the home for the baby until she is here. Some cannot fathom how we will manage. Trust me, all Jewish kids manage - they dont care about their nurseries - only mothers do.
Her coming home outfit and Boppy and any feeding supplies we will need for the hospital, will have to be kept here. I may store them in the car, but I am not sure. The ONLY thing I can say for certain that will be here is this:
That is the mezzuzah that will be on the doorpost of her room. I wouldnt let her sleep in a room without it. Yeah, I know it is football, but I have to get DH something!

Re: Big day...
gorgeous stuff! you're really organized!
we're also having most of our stuff delivered to mom's.... we're not Jewish, but we DO live in a one bedroom apt, and mom lives in a huge huge house by herself.... not to mention the shower will be at her place too... so it's convenient.
I'm certain your whole family will decend upon your home and assemble everything before Ed-lie even wakes up for her first feeding at home...
Would it be against the 'rules' to paint ahead of time? My only concern to painting when she's already here would be that even low oder latex degasses, and it may not be the best for an infant... I would think if it's done when you're about 8-8.5 months, it would be 100% stink-free when your little diva arrives
it's all so exciting!

Everyone does there own thing. There are no "rules" per se, but rather traditions that some adhere to and some do not.
IF we decide to paint, we would do so at least a couple of weeks in advance. I would never endanger her health because of my own personal "mishigas."
