Big birthday present
I'm having a big birthday next month and Dh wants to buy me a nice piece of jewelry, but I'm having a hard time deciding on what...
What would you want?
I was thinking a pave diamond ring, but he's pushing diamond studs

I think this totally depends you YOUR preference. I voted for studs just because I really want them but we can't afford it right now, and I don't want to get something with a very low quality diamond.
I do think it is a classic and timeless piece of jewelry that will NEVER go out of style.

Diamond studs... b/c i've never had them. I normally don't wear earrings but I know if I had these i'd wear them all the time!

I got a beautiful ring for my big birthday. I can admire it all day long. Earrings are great but you can't admire them on yourself.
I got loads of compliments on the ring.

Hey, I wanted a pocketbook, but everyone said I was crazy...
I agree that jewelry is timeless...which is why I switched
I'm not a jewelry person, so I would have stuck with teh pocketbook!!
Anyway, why not look around at jewelry in general for something to catch your eye and fall in love with rather than it having to be a ring or a necklace, etc.

I really think the only solution is that you get both the ring and earrings. Plus, a braclet wouldn't hurt.

Studs.
To me, the only rings I've ever wanted from DH are my engagement ring and wedding band. That's it. Only because I don't think any other ring could possibly have any greater symbolism, meaning, and significance to me.

i would go for a ring or necklace
my mom has lots of nice jewlery but the one thing she will not get is studs - they are expensive and easy to loose- and people do not get that close to check out for getting veryu nice fake ones

I voted bracelet but that's because I already have diamond studs (although I wouldn't turn down a larger pair...) and I've run out of fingers for rings. I think I should send DH my response...

I voted ring - because I already have the studs (engagment present), and pendant (law school graduation present). While I have an e-ring, what I want (it is my push present) is a 1/2 eternity band. My fingers swelled so I am waiting to see if they go down - we gave it until December to see if my fingers will shrink. So that is why I voted for a ring...because that is the nest one I want. But if I did not have studs I would want them.
