BFing moms of 1+ years.....
How often are your babies nursing? DO they ask for it or is it part of your routine?
Also do they drink liquids from a sippy cup?
Alexa eats TONS of solids and is FABULOUS with her sippy cup... she drinks 16+ ounces of liquids a day
I use to nurse her first thing in the morning (her Longest nursing session
before each of her two naps
before bed
Lately she doesn't really want to nurse before teh naps and barely at night
She never asks for it... I just do this as part of her routine.....
Just wondering what other babies are doing

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
Shane will be one next month and our nursing schedule is the same as yours. He still wants it though. I'd like to eliminate the before bed session as it would be nice (for me) to hand over that chunk of time to DH, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet as I don't want to start getting into a bottle habit since he really doesn't use one now at all. He drinks water all day from his sippy and loves it.

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
At 12 months DD was still nursing 3x per day (in the AM, @ dinner time, and before bed). Around 14 months she dropped (her not me) dinner time, @ 16 months she dropped before bed, and @ 20 months she dropped AM.

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
I had a freaking addict.
He never ate anything or drank anything...he drove me to drink.
at his 15 month appt...i remember telling ped he still nursed 10-13 times a day.
he almost fell over.
Josh begged for it all day long...that was when we finally night weaned. that process was the worst 3 weeks of my life.
I know i could have made my bfing goal if he would have left me alone more. i only made it to 18 mos.

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
ok so maybe dropping to 3 isn't bad..... Hmmm Maybe I'll see if she'll nurse morning, afternoon (after her nap instead of a sippy) and then before bed......
I fee like she's just not interested before I put her down for her naps....

See Alexa LOVES food... she can nurse in the am for like 40 minutes and then start SCREAMING for food and her sippy cup
ANd she NEVER asks for it..... I don't know why. I want to let her self wean but I feel like if I didn't offer the boob she would never take it....

I have no idea what you mean!
I would take her lead. Self weaning to me, is a beautiful thing. To take the boob away from josh was the hardest thing both of us ever went through.
I felt like that was the only relationship I had with him and if we did not have that, then would he even like me anymore.
He took it personally. In order to wean, I drove around town for hours, walked the streets for days with him in the stroller, anything to not have him see me sit and attack me.
even after i weaned, he would not drink milk in a cup for over 3 months. he was the worst eater ever. now he's great.
this was the first morning without it...we entitled this pic, Saddest Boy in the World

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
seriously...he was in this sad daze for days!
made me feel sooooo bad.
then to top it off, here he is 5 days after weaning...
this is the kid, 18 mos...never even a cough! stopped nursing, in hospital in distress!
He would not eat, they were going to give him an IV. I said I know what he will eat, I was still full...stood by bed, he nursed them empty and they never filled again.

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
yeah that is my concern is that I really want her getting what little antibodies she still gets from nursing since it seems she has sensitive lungs and everytime she catches teh slightest cold its back on the neb...
It's funny but I'M having a VERY hard time with the thought of her self weaning early... I thought I'd go until 2!!

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
I am still nursing in the morning only. It was getting to the point where they really seemed to have no interest in nursing, they were too distracted by everything else. I started off by dropping the nursing session after their AM nap, and they didn't even seem to notice. Then I started dropping the others one by one and they didn't care at all. Never tugged on my shirt or anything.

Yeah thats her... the only one she really shows interest is first thing when she wakes up, she smacks her lips any other time she could care less....

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
Frankie still nurses about 6 times a day! 1st thing in the morning, before his one and only nap, early evening, before bed and then at least twice in the middle of the night!
He's refusing to drink from a sippy cup! I've tried every friggin kind they make!! Just won't take it, but he'll drink whatever I have from my cup.
He's also a very picky eater!! Hated baby food, so the doctor gave the okay to go staright to table food at 9 months! Even that he;s picky with! The only thing he'll consistently eat is cheerios! Hates pretty much all fruits and veggies! I keep trying though

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
well, i nurse in the morning. she wakes up 6-7am and she will nurse/dream feed till we get out of bed!
i go to work, skip the pumping , come home at 7pm and nurse her then as well as right before bed. on the weekends i would say i nurse 3 times a day. sometimes she will ask for it very inappropriately by pulling out my shirt and either looking in or she'll try to reach in!! i need to teach her nursing manners!!! i cant see her self weaning anytime soon.. i thought for sure she would notice a drop in my supply since i no longer pump at work but it seems to be working out just fine thank God!
i would say 3 times a day is sufficient!!

At almost 11 months, Hailey still nurses 6 times a day and through the night. It is cray. I have tried unsuccessfully to drop one of the feedings, but she gets so upset at night if I don't give it to her. I don't know how I am going to wean!

Re: BFing moms of 1+ years.....
I was just going to post a question to the same audience. My DD is 16 mos and I am still bf several times a day especially when I am home with her. She asks for it/trys to take them. My issue is that my DD is still dreamfeeding several times a night. I recently found out we are pg and I CAN NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE ! If I dont nurse her at night she screams. I am at a total loss I feel like my body needs a break before the next baby. Can someone give me some guidance

OMG- same thing with my 11month old! He'll scream if he doesn't get breastfed throughout the night!! Nothing else works! He'll throw the binky across the room, and scream until he gets the boob! I'm also at a loss!

Glad I am not the only one but so unsure of what to do! I really don't want to stop all together but these night feedings are killing me. Now that she can talk its really bad because she asks for it and says please

How heartbreaking- she says please How do you say no to that? Wish I had words of advice but I'm in the same predicament! I have no plans of stopping anytime soon- just hoping he'll self wean sometime before his 2nd birthday!! But for its totally diff situation being PG agin! Have you talked to the ped? But I sure do hear ya on being exhausted!!
