BFing moms...

When did your DC start sleeping through the night? And did you BF or bottle feed before DC goes to sleep?

Also, how much did your DC weigh when he/she slept through the night? And how many hours do you consider STTN?

DS is almost 10 weeks old and has slept some long stretches (7 or 8 hours). But he usually sleeps a 5 1/2 or 6 hr stretch at first and then 3 hr stretches. Just wondering if I should be doing anything else.

Thanks! Chat Icon

WOW..... 7-8 hour stretches at 10 weeks is AWESOME!!

Alexa started giving me one 6 hour stretch around 10 weeks...... At 18 weeks we did very modified sleep training because she was waking every hour for a few weeks and no naps.... 5 days later she sleeps 7p-7-8 am

She is EBF.... At 6 mos weighs 12 lbs 12 ozs!!

Thanks Maria! The 7-8 hr stretches are once in a while. Lately it has been one 6 hour stretch. He was 10 lbs 4 oz at his last appointment 2 weeks ago. Chat Icon

Re: BFing moms...

We coslept until Ryan he was 7 months old (always fed at the breast). At 7 months we moved him to the crib. After 3 nights of CIO he was sleeping through the night.

Prior to that I don't think he was really on any kind of schedule. He would cry, I would shove a breast in his mouth and that would be that.

wow that's incredible!!! does he sleep in crib/bassinet? I usually only get a good stretch from her if she co-sleeps and is swaddled.

Wow that is great!!!

I am hoping that I can get a consistent 8-4 stretch soon. Right now I get about 8-2 and then 2-5 and then about 730 or 8 wake up.

Honestly, your son is doing great. My poor little boy is 5 months old and still struggles to give me a 6 hour stretch (he had reflux and colic and it really affected his sleep). I wouldn't worry about a thing right now.

ETA: BTW, my little guy was 16 lbs at 4 months and still waking every 4 hours. Chat Icon

Re: BFing moms...

My son has been sleeping through the night since he was 8 1/2 - 9 weeks. I know it is pretty incredible!

I BF him bewteen 8-9:30pm, he falls asleep, I swaddle him, and put him in the bassinet. He will sleep until 6-7am. Nightime is quiet & dark.

During the day, he naps frequently in various places - pack & play, bouncer, swing, car seat. It is loud & light, and he is not swaddled.

I am transitioning him to the crib soon so I am nervous.

He is 11 weeks and weighs almost 13 pounds.

I am so impressed with your son!

Liam will usually sleep from around 8 to 2 swaddled in his crib. Then BF and go another 3 hour stretch and then BF and go another 2 to 3 hrs. He wakes up for the day between 7 and 8.

During the day he naps in the bouncer, swing or car seat unswaddled.

I am crossing my fingers that the nighttime sleep gets better by Sept!

Re: BFing moms...

I just hope it lasts! I keep hearing about this '4 month regression' plus things are going to change in his routine when I return to work in the fall Chat Icon

Good luck with Liam!
