we LOVE Washington Park in Seaford! Tons of shade, lots of tree cover. Never super crowded and a bathroom very close!

I second LATCP at Eisenhower, although the toddler part of that park isn't shaded and gets soooooo hot. Obviously you don't have to stay just in the toddler part, my son doesn't, but just a warning.

Also I like Wantagh park as well.

In case you want some options in suffolk, we love Shorefront Park in patchogue. Right on the bay and has two play structures so the bigger kids tend to stick to the bigger one and leave the other for the younger ones. Also, Diamond in the Pines in I think Selden is fun. There's also a big paved area where people bring bikes and ride ons.

What's parking like at Shorefront park? Can anyone go, or is it Patchogue Village only? (We have a Brookhaven town parking sticker).

Never had an issue with parking. There's a small lot that you'll pass first. That one has signs around the perimeter saying permit required (no idea what permit it even means) but the middle spots don't have signs so I usually park there. If you drive down a little further there's a second lot and I think that one has no signs.

Just be warned that there is absolutely no shade, unless you want to hide under the pirate ship which I've done!

Best Playgrounds for Toddlers

I just discovered the playground behind the Rockville Centre Rec Center and love it! It's all shade, completely enclosed, and has a few different play structures that are perfect for toddler aged children.

I like that park too. The only bad thing is all the slides are metal and get so hot in the summer sun.
