The best gift I got was the George Foreman Grill - the smallest one - this was when I bought my apartment.
Still have it, still use it, still love it.

i think the best gift I got was probably liquor...not to sound like a lush, but this is something that is always good to have bc I tend to do a lot of entertaining,and I always forget to replace it when we run out of it!

Either a Home Depot or Lowes gift card. We basically spent every Friday night for a year at one of those stores. My DH still says that's what he wants for every Christmas and birthday gift (and no, he really isn't that handy!)

Outside of what my parents got us (mom=new bed and dad=patio furniture).
We got some great things for the grill - nice tool kit, skewers, tray for veggies, etc. We also got a personalized tub for drinks.

GCs are always nice - Home Depot, Lowe's and Pottery Barn.
A favorite though is the butcher block cart/table that our previous landlord (and dear friend) gave us, from Williams-Sonoma. It's gorgeous and so functional (especially in our kitchen that lacks counter-top space).

It was used the next day.
ETA: Worst Gift, bottles of tequila and absolute. We don't drink liquor and neither do our families.

Coffee table books of London and Tuscany in a stainless steel monogrammed beer bucket. It was two random things but my friends knew that's what I liked.
I also got a lot of plants, which I love!
ETA: We also got big gifts from our families like, EIK table, vaccuum, gift certificates, light fixtures, etc. I felt bad leaving those out.

My sister got us a welcome mat that was personalized. I love it!
My grandparents all gave us money which is extremely useful.
My parents finished my china set
My MIL is giving us new closet doors (so happy!). I just have to make the apt. to have somebody come in a do them.

homemade cookies and a plant from one of our new neighbors! The 5 year old came over with her mom and welcomed us to the neighborhood and said she baked us the cookies. I thought it was sweet.

When we have family over - we never have enough chairs - we always have to borrow them from someone.
So my parents bought us a bunch of folding chairs!!
Another was my SIL/BIL got our carpets cleaned for us

Someone made us a sign for our yard. It is amazing - it says "Leprechaun crossing" (a dig a my DH). The man carved it and painted it himself.
Apart from that, we loved the GCs we got for HD, Lowes and Ace.
