Bellerose, Queens?
Any thoughts on the area?
Specifically the area between hillside, braddock, and the cross island if that helps..
Tia!

Re: Bellerose, Queens?
Not far from where I grew up! What exactly do you want to know? It's an okay area. The other side of the Cross Island is nicer (closer to Nassau). The zoned HS is Van Buren, which is already busting at the seams with students.

Re: Bellerose, Queens?
In general the 'better' part of bellerose is east of the cross island becuase it is part of school district 26, which is one of the best in NYC. West of the cross island is school district 29 which isnt so great. However the area you mentioned is family oriented and overall a nice quiet area to live.

Re: Bellerose, Queens?
The best thing to do is to drive around the neighborhood. There are a lot of restaurants and bars on Jericho Tpke.

Re: Bellerose, Queens?
DH and I bought a house here in Bellerose, Queens a year and a half ago and we love it here. Walking distance to Hillside Ave and Jericho so it's easy to get some coffee from dunkin donuts or something at CVS. We are on the eastern side of the Cross Island which I'd def recommend. Nicer houses, better school district. If you are a Long Island person, maybe you woudnt like it bc it is still somewhat city-like. But I grew up in Queens and it is a perfect middle ground between urban and suburban.

I would look for an apt in Floral Park Village, Nassau, which is close enough to there but a world away. I would not say it's unsafe, but the parking alone will drive you insane. There are better places to rent than Bellerose (Queens). JMO
completely agree!!!! I love Floral Park village ...that's where I live

Re: Bellerose, Queens?
I'm actually pretty familiar with the nhp/floral park areas-i work there and i teach private string lessons there, so i've driven around the area for years..my best friend lives there too which allowed me to get to know it..
We're actually primarily looking at floral park/nhp, but i found a small cottage in bellerose that looked cute-I just never really knew anything about the area west of the cross island.
thanks for all the input!!

Re: Bellerose, Queens?
There is Bellerose Village which is Nassau and Bellerose which is Queens. District 26 is one of the better districts in the city.
