Bella Updated 08.11.08
Bella had her gum surgery yesterday. Poor baby had to have 12 teeth pulled! The vet said she did well but she will be in a lot of pain. She is not herself today but she is on pain meds. I feel so bad for her. I know in the big picture, it's not serious but pain is pain and it is so hard when you cannot explain what is happening. Bella makes my heart melt, and I hate to see her suffer.

UPDATE 08.08.08: Bella is doing much better! She is on pain meds until tomorrow but really does not seem to be in much pain anymore. She is on soft food for 7 days, and she has been eating regularly, playing, going to the bathroom, etc. I am so relieved, and I am so happy to see her back in good spirits!
Animals have such amazing intuition: Denver and Holden have been so good to her these past few days. Holden sat next to her all night on Wed, just watching and putting his head near hers. Animals are amazing!

UPDATE 08.11.08: Follow up visit today went very well. Bella is acting totally normal, and she is in excellent spirits. She is on meds and soft food until Wed, then everything returns to normal. I am so glad all of this poison is out, she is out of pain, and she is my happy little sweetie again.
Thank you again for all of the kindness, good thoughts, and prayers. Not everyone understands that pets are a part of our family, and it's great to have this board for support.

Awww.. It is so heartbreaking when you see animals suffer- because like you said- they don't understand and you can't explain it to them.
I hope the pain meds keep her more comfortable and she feels better soon!

What happened?? Is she old? why did she have her teeth pulled. What do you do know put her on a soft food diet? Aww poor thing. You did the right thing if that was all poison in her mouth.

She's about 6. She's a puppy mill rescue. We got her from a rescue about a year and a half ago but until then, she had not had much medical care. She has advanced gingivities, she had terrible breath, and a bunch of bad teeth. She's on soft food and meds for a week. She's a very special girl, and we are blessed to have her in our lives.

Oh yay!!! I'm so glad to hear she's starting to feel like her old self, good stuff!!!
That is so sweet of Holden to be watching over her like that too...
They say we're the civilized/compassionate ones... I say we have nothing on the animals!!!
