bedtime routine gone wrong
every night, we try to give my 7 week old a bath at 7:30 and last feed at 8pm (this is usually a bit earlier than she needs to eat). lately she has gone into the tub fine. loves the bath and is calm. the minute she comes out and we start to dry her off, she starts wailing. she won't stop and nothing i do can calm her down. i am not sure how to make bedtime a calming routine. i am afraid she will hate bedtime and associate bedtime with crying and being miserable. is she overtired? i could start bathtime and feeding earlier, but then she would be eating 2 hours after her last feed when she normally goes 3 hours. i dont know what im doing wrong. i see everyone else has a calming nighttime routine, and my baby is just so unhappy. any advice? TIA!

Do you think she might be cold? Maybe that's why she's crying. I would move her bathtime to sometime in the afternoon and see how it works. It's all about trial and error. My DS rarely gets a bath at bedtime, it's usually in the afternoon.

Both of my boys did this for a while..my little guy is still crying once the lotion goes on.
For my little ones I think it was that they were anticipating the bottle and going to sleep. They have no patience. For my oldest it did stop at around 6-8 months. He was happy the entire time from that point on and today at 3 years old the bath totally signals bedtime for him. I love it!

My DS wails also as soon as I start lotioning him after we take him out of the bath and I think it's the reason the poster above stated. In my case, I moved his bath time up by 15 minutes and it helped a little.

This is my DD also. Earlier bedtime, plus starting the bottle before the bath a bit, and singing animated, silly songs while she's crying/fussing help keep her from getting too upset.
