Bedroom size???
What would you say the standard size of a bedroom would be? The dimensions?? The reason I ask is that we are redoing the whole upstairs of our home to make it more child friendly. It's a strange layout. We would have 3 bedrooms. The master is 17x12 (I love the size of this), and the two other bedrooms would be 14x10. Is this a weird shape?? Or is that pretty decent sized?? I have no clue what a normal sized bedroom would measure. TIA

Re: Bedroom size???
My bedroom growing up was about 9x12. It was pretty small, but I was able to have a bed, nightstand, desk, and dresser in there which was everything I needed.
It just s*cked at the time because I could never have friends over since my bedroom was so small. I think my parents liked it that way

Re: Bedroom size???
10 x 14 is a decent size for a child's bedroom. The two smaller bedrooms in our house are about 11 x 11. One is set up as an office, the other has a full size bed, a desk and a small dresser. It's a bit tight on space but with a smaller bed it would be roomy.

Re: Bedroom size???
Just to give you some perspective, we asked our architect for the smallest bedrooms and he gave us 8x10. He said anything smaller would be an office. Personally, I prefer small bedrooms for kids - probably because its what both DH and I had until age 25, lol.
We both had twin beds though. I never heard of having a full or queen for one person until LIF. Even cousins who got married in their 30s left their house still in a twin, lol.

Re: Bedroom size???
Thanks girls!!! And Tilde I have to say that I also had a very small room growing up that I shared with my sister!!!!!!!! Its amazing because we fit two single beds and furniture! I think we think we need more space but often times something is larger than we think. A room of 8x10 fits everything fine I'm assuming, right?

In an 8x10 you can expect to fit a twin bed, dresser and desk. The essentials, IMO!
For my nursery, I expect to fit the crib, dresser and maybe a glider. I am not getting a changing table or anything extra.
