Bedrest Question
How do you keep yourself busy? I am on my first day of complete bedrest (with a 17 month old!) and was told I will not be taken off before I deliver (which could be at any time)...what can I do to keep myself from going crazy?

Re: Bedrest Question
I have been on bed rest since I was 28 weeks and my will be arriving 2 weeks from today. I wish I could tell you that it was easy. The days do move slow, but overall the weeks flew by!
Thank goodness for the computer, because that is what really kept me busy. I also read a bunch of books and magazines. I joined netflix and watched a lot of movies. The biggest help was just arranging for friends and family to come over and hang out with me as much as possible. I am very lucky to have had an extremely strong support system in place because that is ultimately what helped me get through all these weeks!
I would recommend lining up people to come over and visit!
Good Luck! It is very hard, but will be totally worth it in the end (at least that is what everyone keeps telling me )

Re: Bedrest Question
Oh no, I am so sorry that you are on bedrest. Do you have help with your 17 month old. I am signed out of work, but am not on complete bedrest...are there shows that your child will watch. Maybe get alot of movies, or DVR some of the shows. I know you probably don't want your child to watch too much tv, but this will really help you. Also, does your child play good by themselves....make sure you have alot of toys where you are...books and stuff like that...and be in an area where you can use a gate, so that the child can't run all over.

Re: Bedrest Question
Thanks for the advice...I am keeping my babysitting in place for my daughter for the time being...I am just anticipating being so bored by tomorrow! I guess I will have to start reading or scrapbooking or something! I guess this is better than being admitted to the hospital, which I know is a possibility as well.

Re: Bedrest Question
During my last pregnancy, I was on bed rest from 32 weeks. I was supposed to basically lay down for 4 hours at a stretch and that would buy be a half hour to get up.
We have a king sized bed so I would set up everything for the 4 hour stretch in an assembly line. I had my magazine, book, newspaper, remote control, laptop, snacks & drink. I would also nap once a day.
One of the PP stated that she arranged for lots of visitors. That's a great idea if you don't have to really lay down for long stretches like I did. I didn't have many visitors b/c the doctor really didn't want me up. I would have wanted to be a hostess if I had company. But if you can, I think that's a great suggestion to pass the time & not go bonkers.
