Oy, get lots of books and magazines!! Maybe learn how to knit or crochet?
May I ask why the doc made you go on bedrest?

Re: bedrest already...
last week I got kicked in the stomach and was put on strict bedrest to make sure the peapod was OK turns out it is so I went back to work yesterday and was forced to lift a pt who was heavier than me and I refused to my nurse manager told me to do my job or go out leave so I thought about it for half a second and told her this job isn't losing another baby (i already lost twins last yr) plus with all this stress my blood pressure has sky rocketed 176/120 yesterday so the Dr told me to rest up and stay off my feet for now and we'll see how it goes...

Wow, that's terrible!! Does she know you are pregnant? Is there anyway you could speak to her superior?
I'm sure if the doc wrote a note providing specific restrictions she wouldn't be able to force you to do such things.
Anyway, you always have us to talk to when you really get bored!

she told me that if I was going to work I need to work at a 100% capacity and they know I'm pregnant and they know that I lost 2 babies last year Heartless Bi&^$!!! I spoke to her today and she seems OK about it even tried to help me out with getting half pay after the 6 weeks but i think I'll be OK and plus I work for the state by the time I shold deliver I will have another 4 weeks vacation (not including sick days and holidays) so total about 5 1/2 and then I go to half pay after that for a max of 6 weeks after I use my time I am not worried and my mom said she'll pay for my new truck I bought last yr so I am covered My hubby takes of eveything else anyway if I don't get paid but I don't think that there will be a problem either way

When it is ok for you to go back to work, I would talk to your nurse manager's supervisor about your duties. I work for the City of NY [I'm a Sergeant] and I am on restricted duty. Meaning- no heavy lifting, no contact with prisoners, no excessive standing or stair climbing and no riding in a dept car. Basically I have a desk job away from patrol. Working for the state yourself, I am sure there are accomodations that will be made for you. Don't take her word for it!! Now, I am really mad for you!!

Re: bedrest already...
That is terrible about the woman you work with!!! My DH used to be a social worker in a child psych ward, when one of the collegues was pregnant, and it happened often, they always took care that she was not in harms way and did not have to lift patients.
Stay home an rest! And like a pp said, if you don't ahve it already, get TIVO or DVR!

Re: bedrest already...
yeah, I agree with others... your manager is evil, and you need to be on modified work detail. the state always makes reasonable accommodations.... especially when they are temporary like pregnancy.
any one else see the irony in this? her manager is a nurse and has no empathy for those who have medical conditions..... that lady should get written up for that. wonder how she treats the patients......
