last night in L&D, now on bedrest... sorry, long

we had some drama yesterday...

went for a long (but not too vigorous) walk with my dog yeterday morning. on the way home i had to stop a few times because i was having what i thought was ligament pain. when i got home i had a few contractions but i thought nothing of it and blew them off... then it all went away and i went through the rest of my day.

then last night i took the dogs for a VERY short walk with DH, after which i came home and started feeling very uncomfortable. i couldn't figure out whether i was having contractions. so i laid down on my side and drank a bunch, but the discomfort didn't go away. called the OB, who advised me to count what i thought the contractions were, and said that 5 BH an hour is normal. well, we counted 8 in 30 minutes, so off to the ER we went.

LUCKILY my cervix is long and closed. and my fibronectin test was negative, meaning that there is a 95% chance that i WON'T give birth in the next 4 weeks. but i WAS having contractions, and the doc thinks it's either from a UTI (less likely, since my urine wasn't too convincing) or from my uterus being excessively irritable.

so now i am on bedrest for at least the next 3 days, plus i am on meds to keep the contractions at bay Chat Icon

I had the same experience a few weeks back. They monitored me for a few days and took me off 'at risk'. Listen to the doctors! It's great that everything shows you're not going into labor! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I think it's natures way of telling us we can't do all that we used to. Relax and enjoy your weekend! Chat Icon

I'm glad you are ok. Relax and take it easy - follow doctor orders. How did you know they were contractions?

oh wow Chat Icon Was it all the activity you were doing? I'm limited to activiy. I've been on pelvic rest for about a month and a half. I haven't carried a laundry basked or walked my dog. It's hard but stay positive Chat Icon

I can relate since this has happened to me at 24 weeks and at 32 weeks. Try to stay hydrated as much as possible. And if you feel them coming on drink a bottle of gatorade. I feel like gatorade works so much better than water. I was on bedrest for like 3 days and that was it. I know it sucks but try and relax.

I was on bedrest with my 2nd DD, I know how you feel. Get yourself some good books, it can get boring. Chat Icon
